I went years without insurance after this crap took place because I was an independent contractor. I had a 'catastrophe' policy that was fairly cheap, and it went away.
Now, I'm a company employee with insurance and 5 grand deductible.
Went to the clinic last March with bronchitis, paid them the $60.00 office visit they wanted, gave them my insurance card thinking it would come off my deductible.
Wrong. 3 months ago, I got a letter from the clinic saying that I owed them a hundred bucks because they bumped my insurance for 160, and they didn't pay it. WTF?
About an hour on the phone took care of that.....I thought. NO!!
C**pla weeks ago, I get a bill from the company that owns the clinic saying I owe $260.00. All the while acknowledging my $60.00 payment for services rendered.
Half hour on the phone with them, and I don't know where it's at now, but I ain't paying them a damn dime! I paid at the time, in cash!
The only thing my insurance is good for is a catastrophic event, and costs three times as much. If it will even cover it!
The company I'm insured through is Cigna.
What does that tell ya?
I went years without insurance after this crap too... (
