Beto O'Rourke and Stacey Adams both lost their most recent e******ns and now they are considered for the presidency? In 1960, Richard Nixon was very narrowly defeated by John Kennedy for the presidency. Nixon then ran for governor of California and was defeated by Edmund 'Gerry' Brown, Sr., father of the recent former governor. That defeat was engineered behind the scenes by Robert Kennedy; the Kennedys wanted to take Nixon out of the mix for the '64 nomination. In 1968, Nixon had to live down the reputation as a loser, finally winning the nomination and the e******n. Today, we have two losers now being touted as potential nominees for 2020.

Rip van Winkle, did I miss something?

A nascent Betogate, or even better in the case of Abrams, cow pasturegate.

Did you have a good night's sleep, Frosty? Your comments about reform, ACA, etc are typical left-wing BS. How you guys can look at black and see white will always be a head shaker for me. I would be the first to admit that we conservatives are guilty, to some degree, of being biased, but when examining a list of l*****t statements, such as I read on OPP so often, it seems to me they are so counter to common sense that I am always puzzled. When you say that the ACA was an improvement, I throw up my hands. Do you really think that income redistribution is a GOOD thing. My, My!

yes Bernie,,, and my morning rush should last another 20 minuets or so..

do you truly think health care is income redistribution?? where does the term even come from..

forgetting for a moment about people like my who could not buy insurance..

It is a simply fact that early treatment of any medical condition is cheaper then letting it reach emergency status before rendering care.. Which was the alternative..

I guess we could go down a long list of policy and rant at each other as right of left wing nuts about the good or bad outlook.

but, rather I will simply try and lump some of my pov and say that the country needs a large and prosperous middle/working class to keep America strong..

If you continue to punish the lower end of the economy while gifting the top end, we will ruin ourselves and end up as the second rate nation we seem headed for now..

that said, I have to say that I think we also need some conservative policy to offset the input that could push us to another extreme..

There was only one blurb that Nixon was in on the planning of the Watergate break-in. That was never repeated and likely was not true. Further, he only ordered the coverup so that the White House would not be tarnished.

Nixon just got caught. The Kennedys, Johnson and FDR did far worse in abuses of power.

French politicians were astonished at it. One said, we have Watergates every day. The Italians were also incredulous over it.

Nixon faced an implacably hostile press, unlike FDR, the Kennedys and even Johnson. That hostility was never outdone until Trump. Anything he has done is dwarfed by the outright avarice of the Obamas & Clintons.

Permafrost, past your reading time? What do you read? Aesop's Fables?

You do understand that we do not follow the rules of France or Italy??

You do not think Nixon was a criminal?

But until Ronnie Raygun and now trump, he was the most indicted president in history..

Or do you follow your dreams and live in the orange cloud of lies?

No, never read that Aesop guy..

I have near endless list of favs.. Sandford is #1... but Preston/child is up their.. Grisham..

Box, Minn writer... several of them, make it a goal to read each of them..

but I read darn near anything.. history, fiction, sci fiction, King, Koontz... Connolly,,,

have you ever read a book you did not need to? It can be fun..

before i took my well earned early retirement, I owned a delivery/boom service business and basked in the huge building boom created by the evil bankers of the republican party..

Do you have a grudge against someone who made money from republican misdeeds??

Before i did that, I worked in t***sportation as operations guru and before that I got a Biz admin degree from the U of MN, before that i was a US Marine and damn proud of it..

I now spend my time of leisure on my 45 acres overlooking this 2500 acre lake in the wilds of northern Minnesota.. very comfortable, but at times bored..

It doesn't surprise me that you missed my point. And, of course, you put words into my mouth that I didn't say.

I would say that you're a pretty pathetic example of intelligence but then again, you're a liberal so the normal rules of exchange do not apply.

Troubles you when you have nothing? Is that it??

What was your point that Agnew was a fine man, a prime example of Republican ideals??

I have no grudge against anyone making a living from anything but before you advocate for socialism of my field, health care, I suggest you socialize your own.

Republican misdeeds? Only partly so, Most likely you benefited from the Clintons' Community Re-investment Act.

Congratulations on being a Marine.

My point was about two Democrats projected into national contention after having lost e******ns.

Remedial reading is offered at community colleges.
