I take 325mg of aspirin every day and do fine hope I never have to take any of those the side effect are scary. I know how you feel though they had me taking Plavix after surgery and I scratched my arm and like you thought I would never get it to stop I stopped taking it I ended up getting a blood clot in front of the stint they had put in several months later another dr said if they removed it I would probably get another clot that some peoples body dont except them well so we just leave it. Aspirin does the same as the fancy pills but death isnt listed as a side effect. Though you do have to watch the stomach it can cause irritation and severe cases bleeding but I have been taking it for 14 years and haven't had a problem my blood is checked by my kidney Dr every 3 months. You have to be proactive in your medical care talk to your Dr. and tell him you uncomfortable taking that and you want to look at an alternative. Always check what they are giving you if your Dr doesn't want to discuss it and is unwilling to change get a 2nd opinion and maybe a different DR

I've looked at alternatives but this so far, is the best. It and all the others are equally dangerous. I was even on that Aspirin regime, 83mg (Baby Aspirin) per day and ended up with an ulcerous hole in my stomach. That one finally healed after stopping the Aspirin but for a long while I was looking at more surgery to fix the blowout.

Some foods have natural vitamin k which is what they use to thicken the blood when it gets to thin so you have to watch for those foods you can find a list on the internet if your dr hasnt given you one I don't worry about it I've never had a problem

Yes, I have been doing this for about twenty years now so I am aware of the problems with various foods. Thanks for the suggestion anyway, some may not be aware of that potential problem.

I take warfarin paf
I have had no
problems at all
I have even cut my self pretty badly and the bleeding stopped pretty quickly
I'm spose to be between 2 and three
stay there pretty well They tell me that if I fall and hit my head is the greatest danger

Physical changes caused my target number to shift all over the place and I had to get tested about every three days. After a year of that I was switched off Warfarin to Xarelto and now need no testing.

That blows the "eating fish is good for you" theory.

So you get your fish at the supermarket, eh?

I always clean mine before I eat them too.

I wouldn't have posted that, but, the thread I opened skipped the top of the page, so I didn't even see the part of your conversation with Pa. My apologies.

But just consider the alternative. Even with the things that are going wrong with this old body, I am not ready to experience the alternative quite yet.
