Hypothetical situation:
You are the member of an exclusive club... To join you must be born a member or enter through a rigorous process... Regardless, once a member you are entitled to all the benefits and rights of the club (and there are many)... Another member wrongs you... You contact the club's administration and said member is disciplined, or perhaps expelled... You ate satisfied and certainly don't hold the club's administration responsible for the actions of a member who has just as much right to be there as you do...
Another individual wrongs you... Hw os not a member... He has entered the club illegitimately through poor enforcement of club regulations... Although he has been enjoying the benefits and rights of the club he is in no way a member... Administration was aware that these individuals had been entering the club, but was reluctant (for various reasons) to curtail the influx... You are outraged... After all, you pay membership fees and expect a certain level of professionalism from the administration....
Administration attempts to point out that you are far more likely to be wronged by another member than by one of these illegitimate individuals...
You are:
a) ashamed of your outrage... of course the ratio forgives all trespasses from these individuals....
b) completely understanding of the Administration's lack of effort in curtailling the influx... After all the Administration exists to collect fees not enforce bylaws...
c) on the Administration's side... obviously it is the members that are the problem and alowing unfettered access to all will completely change the dynamic of the club for the better...
d) None of the above... So you v**e for an Administration that will correct the problem and enforce all bylaws...
Have fun with it and please poke holes in my reasoning (there are several)...
