When I went to school back in the mid-1950's (showing my age) it was required to pass a course in geography, history (US and world), basic government and English. It's stood me well in the interim, although I (as all kids) couldn't see why I had to take this boring crap. Oh, and they taught Latin as well. Things have certainly changed.
There was a time when people with an 8th grade education were more educated than current first year college students. It's been some time but I read an article that said most adults today couldn't pass an 8th grade final exam given to rural schools in 1910-1912. The left has been in charge of our educational system for over 60 years, and has tried to quash critical thinking sk**ls and replace them with mindless group-think. So actual knowledge is no longer important, just do as you're told, like everyone else. And let those who are smarter and better decide things.
