Lol... ok, Don. The closest definition you provided was for “confederacy” and that’s fine. Now, after reading the definition, will you point out specifically which part means “against”. I’m apparently very slow. I always thought words like “alliance” and “combination” meant the exact opposite of “against” - your studied, and precise articulation on this matter would be much appreciated.

You were contending that the first syllable in Confederatcy,and the articles of confederation we're not prefixes and that they were some form meme or something like that.I knowing how words are formed and knowing the origins of words contend that by the surrounding words you can tell that it it used as a prefix to mean against,If you read the downloaded definition of Confederacy, [generally the dictionary gives the most broadly used understanding of what the words means- Con meaning succinctly against.con-vict,a convict is against the system,con-vert,a change in something that was the norm,con-descend,again note r*******n against a more preferable form of chacracter.This prefix syllable repeatedly denotes something anti something.If you noted in the definition I downloaded it said that the definition of a Con-federate as being a entity that was generally against the law,in this case the established government .
Lastly I said it was used in a prefix context because the word federal establishes something to be against,and like wise in the phrase articles of confederation,con meaning anti magna charter, which was anti the Federallies,in this case the Brits.`
