Maybe. But true or not, that is deflection, and should have no bearing on the point of the thread. Previous wrongs do not allow for a right to repeatedly and blatantly lie.

I will still take the direction the country is now heading as compared to the way it was headed before any day of the week. Also I v**ed for a leader that would take our country in the direction it is now going and that required a business person. If I was v****g for the preacher of our church for the next 8 years I would not v**e for Trump but then we would be talking about the difference between apples and oranges wouldn't we. If Obama had taken this country in what I would call a positive direction then I probably would have supported him but in my not so humble opinion he was d**gging us down and not lifting America up. So no Trump isn't your typical Sunday school teacher and he embellishes the t***h so what I approve of the way he is heading this country and if you don't like it there is always 2020.

I can appreciate that it's fair to form ones own evaluation of both men's presidencies. Reasonable men can have reasonable differences.

However, I never wrote that Trump embellishes the t***h. My exact words were "The man can't help but embellish his comments with hyperbolic bluster." I was addressing his comments being, far too often, hyperbolic bluster straying far from the t***h. And, that is the undeniable t***h...IMHO.

So you are saying yes Trump is a liar but that’s justified because Obama was in your opinion worse?

I suggested that rather than hating Trump, a lot of educated Americans have something more akin to benign contempt.
The kind of adolescent behavior we are witnessing hardly calls for hatred, just a better understanding of our lesser angels.

All living former presidents refute Trump's claim they privately voiced support for border wall

Chris Sommerfeldt

All four living ex-presidents have publicly rebuffed President Trump’s claim that they privately gushed about the need for a massive wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump made the questionable remark during a raucous press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Friday while defending his refusing to reopen the government without Congress first earmarking at least $5 billion for a behemoth barrier on the border.

“This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me and they all know it," Trump said of his wall obsession. "Some of them have told me that we should have done it.”

Angel Urena, a spokesman for Bill Clinton, quickly came out affirming the 42nd President had never told Trump anything to that effect. “In fact, they’ve not talked since the inauguration,” Urena said.

Freddy Ford, a spokesman for George W. Bush, followed suit and said the former President had never discussed such a thing with Trump.

A spokesman for Barack Obama declined to provide new comment but pointed to a pertinent May 2016 remark from the 44th President: “The world is more interconnected than ever before, and it’s becoming more connected every day. Building walls won’t change that.”

Finally, former President Jimmy Carter came out Monday rejecting Trump’s claim.

“I have not discussed the border wall with President Trump, and do not support him on the issue,” Carter said in a statement.

A White House spokeswoman did not return a request for comment, but even Trump’s own acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney wouldn’t back up his boss’s long-shot assertion.

“I have no idea,” Mulvaney told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday when asked about who Trump was talking about. “I have not asked the President that question.”

(Yawn) That was just another of Trump's lies which unfortuately we're all getting used to.
