I've often wondered if it was a mistake for me to take in my Ruger, who is 1/2 pure bred pit, and 1/2 American bulldog. I've never had a bulldog of any kind, and we all know the reputation of the Pit Bull.
I think I might have screwed up!

After seeing that I would take no chances go out and shoot that dog immediately and save your family from a good licking that they will get if you keep that dog.

He can lick them all he wants. I'm worried about my spot on the bed!

I had one years ago.
No problem...
My daughter has one now.
They must be trained and worked with. Not fed gun powder.

I live in a rural area where people think it is acceptable to dump unwanted animals. I have 3 pit bull mix dogs that someone "gifted" me. My old man Duke is the sweetest animal I have ever had, (he is also the dumbest dog I have ever had, oh well,) the most dangerous part about Duke is his tail which he will gladly beat you with as he is happy to see everyone. The girls, Sophie and Gracie are just sweet loving dogs that were left to die of starvation. Every breed will have some bad apples, but it is the humans in a dog's life that determine if they are good or bad dogs

Just goes to show you it is the owners not the dogs, whether they be dobermans, shepherds or dachshunds!

My wife volunteered at a no k**l shelter for a long time where there was a very large Pit Bull who had been fought, and Lord knows what else. He was very sketchy, and the staff told her NOT to go in the enclosure with him.
Well, she did it anyway, and never got bit, never felt threatened, and became great friends with him. He wasn't a candidate for adoption, but he lived his last year's knowing, and giving back love. Admittedly, I had the breed bias myself until then. I saw it with my own eyes. A big, fearful, scarred, beast melt in my wife's arms.
I felt ashamed for thinking it was the breed, and not the dog that made them bad.

Now I have one, and want my spot back!

My sister has two of them (mixed) and they are the most tolerant of companions for her kids... Put up with more than I ever will...

You are absolutely right about it depending on the owners and how they are raised...

Try rubbing a little bacon grease on the floor in front of your spot... Might have yourself a couole of fine footstools...

In Great Britain pit bulls were called the nanny dogs at one time

Several years ago my Son and I were deer hunting. We were driving slowly up a logging road when I noticed in my rear view mirror a dark blue Suburban was approaching very fast. I got over to the right as far as I could and he passed me. I could see that there were two young boys with the driver. I thought to myself, Dad's taking his boys out to introduce them into hunting. That's a good thing. As we got further up the road, the Suburban was pulled off to the side of the road where people had been dumping their trash over the bank. I saw the man and the boys and a pit bull. I mentioned to my son, that's not good to bring a dog out here in the woods during deer season. We hunted all day and didn't see anything. We were going back down the road and passed the place where the Suburban had been pulled over, when something caught my eye. I slammed on the brakes and my Son asked if I saw something. I said yes but not a deer. I backed up and pulled into that wide spot in the road. There was that pit bull standing there. I got out of the truck and walked closer to the dog, I could see what looked like a .22 wound in his right shoulder. By that time I was getting pissed off, about someone bringing a dog up here to shoot it and not k*****g it then leaving. I wished I had gotten their licenses number. I would have turned them in in a heartbeat. I was thinking of what I should do. I could put him in the back of my truck and take him to the humane society. But I was leery of picking him up as I might touch a sore spot and he could bite me. And the humane society would probably just put him to sleep anyway. I thought about this situation for awhile and figured the only humane thing to do was to put him to sleep myself. So I pulled my sidearm out and placed it to the base of his skull and he went to sleep instantly. If I ever run into a situation like that again, I'll be sure to get license number and any information I can.

Peaver,
Interesting true story.
Some people are inhuman.

Every one of my 4 dogs some low life dumped and left to starve. Five years ago I got my Ginger, a chocolate lab mix who had 4 puppies with her too. I had at that time 7 dogs of my own, the 2 girls the pit bull mix had been dumped 2 weeks earlier. So I had 14 dogs for about 3 months. I found homes for the 4 pups. Over the next 5 years I lost my senior dogs, and another 8 year old pit bull to cancer, and now have my 4 that are left. I have never regretted taking any of them in
