The 2018 shameless award

The award for shameless behavior goes to Donald Trump, hands down. Thousands of Federal workers, including thousands of contractors, are either on furlough without pay, or working without pay, but the Donald and the Congress won't miss a cent in pay and benefits. Sticking his thumb in the face of a million Federal employees, Trump signs an order to freeze their pay for 2019, citing serious economic problems and runaway deficits. Really? Are you kidding me?!

Trump and the GOP continue to crow about the "tremendous economy", so where are these "problems" located? The recent tax give away is supposed to pay for itself with money left over, so why are there deficits? Sounds like reality snuck in there somewhere, but instead of correcting what is now an obvious mistake and undo the tax relief for the wealthiest Americans , they plan on requiring the least wealthy to make up the difference. BTW, where did that promised tax break for the middle class get off to?

In a further display of shamelessness, even in the spotlight of "serious economic problems and runaway deficits", Trump shuts down the Government in a bid to secure billions for a wall. If we cannot afford to pay our non elected employees, we damn sure can't afford to waste billions on a wall. BTW, Trump bragged about being the worlds greatest builder ( even though he hasn't actually built a single thing in his entire life ), and the worlds greatest negotiator..................why so much money for a simple wall? Why has Trump abandoned the "Mexico will pay for it" rhetoric ( although his sycophants still try the "eventually, someday, maybe" spiel ), demanding that the American taxpayer pick up the tab for what was originally a campaign slogan, not a legitimate, serious objective?

Sooner ( hopefully ) or later (sad ), the 1/4 of Americans who put Trump in office, are going to have to admit that they got conned. Trump has never been a successful businessman, who's failures far out number his successes, nor has any of his ideas been considered beyond the immediate crowd appeal. Trump is a reality TV show construct, who fell prey to his own propaganda and hyperbole. The 3/4 of Americans who's apathy and ignorance allowed those other Americans to foist Trump on us, are going to have to admit that they screwed up too. Americans are the victims of a massive s**m.

Most shameless behavior?? Barry Obama not respecting the same office that he occupied. That taboo gaboo has no shame in his game...neither does his husband as he is testing the water for a run at the Oval office himself.

The only thing this shutdown shows is the Federal Government does not need over 2,000 agencies to do the 30 tasks given them by the Constitution and there is no traffic while driving to work. My point is has anyone used a government agency to try to fix any problem and that agency didn't make the problem 10 times worse.

You blaming Trump must mean you expect Democrats to lie through their teeth. If I remember right, and I do these same democrats were all saying how important border security was just months ago. Now it's more important to shut down government than secure our border. With that said how bout that award be given to the democrats who obstruct Trump at every opportunity no matter the harmful effects it has on the nation. As keeping the same people that destroy Europe out of America. As calling a tax cut dooms day. As calling the return of jobs the worst thing to ever happen. No matter how I bash in my head I will never understand how a democrats small brain works. Don't you ever go out and check what those Democrat criminals say. Why do you take the words of liars that continue to show they are liars? Try to tell me just one thing these i******s bring to this country that makes us better, just one. Now tell me why democrats don't want to secure our border. See, just like I said democrats are as useless as the 22 million uneducated i******s living off my dime. Your point is not well taken because it isn't a point at all.

For 8 years Obama never did anything for this nation, it's people or it's allies. He over doubled my health care cost along with government more control of my life. Everything he did for our allies was on word, 'treasonous'. His first priority was a world tour where he trashed America and blamed us for anything and everything. His last speech was identical to his first. He lied through his teeth saying his administration was scandal free. We all know all his scandals cost Americans their jobs, their cash, and their lives. Nothing to do with free. Maybe you should reevaluate your moral compass or pull that magnet from the South side.

The really stupid aspect of all this is that government does not need to shut down. The government does not run out of money just because a budget is not passed. Tax revenues keep rolling in. There is plenty of money to keep government open. The ONLY spending that must be curtailed is BORROWING! Without a budget that allows additional borrowing, the government cannot spend money that it doesn't have. That would be like a family who has their credit cards cut up; they must learn to live within their means. Oh what a terrible thought, the government living within their means. I think that it would be great to go a year without a budget or a continuing resolution. Require the government to spend only what revenues come in. That means cutting back on frivolous spending, the pork barrel stuff that they all do to support their constituents and v**es. The rest of us all have to live within our means; we can't pile up credit card debt endlessly. Make the government operate like the rest of us.

Bravo and well said...
Could you imagine the tantrums if congress was forced to spend only revenue that was generated during the fiscal year?
Perhaps there should be one Year in ten whereas borrowing is not allowed... Sort of a fiscal diet to help tighten the belts of the fatcats in congress

They should not only have their pay docked but be fined as well. The longer the shutdown the bigger the fine. Make it a big fine. No back pay. They forget they work for us. If any of us caused a shutdown of the company we worked we'd be fired.
