At our annual Christmas Eve party my sister-in-law ask me to come to a function with her, my niece and my sister for a benefit for a group that battles trafficking. I of course said wonderful I'd be glad to go. My sister-in-law said that she had gotten involved as an organizer for the event and I said that's great. She then started to recount a story about a local woman who had been trafficked. She said the local woman was a professor at a local College and this was her story. That she was a single mom and had a couple of small children and wasn't making enough money. So she got involved with so-called traffickers in this way. She would be picked up at 11 p.m. four nights a week and do videos of her self cleaning house in her underwear or in the nude. Then they bring her home about 4 a.m. I said to my sister-in-law "Cheryl, that is not trafficking that is prostitution". My sister-in-law said no no she has to do it because she needs the money. I said Cheryl, people who are trafficked aren't paid for their labors they're s***es, theyre forced into doing things they don't want to do. My sister-in-law just shook her head as though I didn't get it. Maybe I'm the one that's confused. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I would agree with you....
Trafficking is a serious crime and involves coercion and usually abuse..
While this woman may have felt a personal need to employ those methods in order to earn a living it certainly doesn't meet the standards of trafficking...
How was the benefit?

Haven't gone yet. My sister-in-law just asked me yesterday on Christmas eve. It's mid January. This is a cause I feel strongly about, but if the example I was given is their idea of trafficking, it's NOT the group for me, and honestly I don't want to embarrass my sister in law, but I'm also not one of those people who are gonna shut up, so... The thing is I'm pragmatic about certain things. I was also a single mom of four and have worked 2 jobs for 30 years. And this is an educated woman who could tutor or some such as a second job. I dunno, I may just have to be sick for the conference and ask my niece what she thinks. She's level headed. Cuz my sister-in-law had also asked me to donate mentoring services later on a limited basis and that REALLY wouldn't work out if I got back stories like the one she cited to me. It's a difficult situation for me. But glad you agree, I thought like so much else, the definitions of exploitation and trafficking had morphed into something unrecognizable to me over the years.

Ask her if a woman going to college and turns tricks to pay for her tuition is trafficking herself if she doesn't have a pimp. It the same thing. Neither one is being forced or coerced. The only difference is one drive's herself and the other one carpools. Sounds like a liberal fund raiser to me.

Thanks for your opinion, Bob, which is the blunt version of what I'm thinking

AGREED. I will give my time, money and talents all day long to help someone needy, but I just can't see the person used as an example as needy. And if she is an exemplar of what's being supported, bluntly I want no part of it there are too many true victims out there who need help..IMO.

Apparently your sister in law doesn't seem to understand that the 'professor' does this voluntarily for cash as opposed to women who are tricked or forced into servitude. The 'professor' has other options, a woman involved with traffickers has no choice.

Yes, that's what I thought too. But, so much has changed and been distorted over the past 20 years or so I thought something else got weird while I wasn't paying attention

If the liberal left get their way, no matter what you do, including pedophelia or bestiality
Would be consider wrong. The liberal Man BoybAssocistion is a good example of this. And of course, bathroom barry’s Policies of open rest rooms, showers etc. will only further degradation of America. And with the way they are pushing this way of life with Planned Parenthood divisions taking their propaganda to the early grades of elementary schools is going to have the children think there are no boundaries.

That’s the plan. But with the whole education of this country being run by the majority of very liberal professors and teachers, we have a very big battle to fight. They have made inroads into the minds of children that are absolutely frightening. If you look at the colleges and universities you can see that just very little of them conservative ideas is allowed to be displayed. Liberals can do anything but with little or no problems. They are the teachers leading the students, young and older.

Yes its sad. Parents have to start re-engaging with their kids. Dinners together, outings together, game night, actual conversations. Believe me, I know it's hard, was a single Mom of 4 with no family, no help and 2 jobs for years. BUT. I knew where my kids were, who their friends were and we did stuff together. As adults, all four are conservative, tho 2 had a foray into liberalism before their common sense kicked in it CAN be done. Possessions and gadgets mean less than the hawkers want you to think all of my siblings are a lot younger than me and also lean conservative.
