My broker asked me why I didn’t access my account online, when I told him he was genuinely surprised. If I opt to access my account online I agree to settle any dispute with the company through arbitration. Essentially anyone who goes that route signs away their right to litigate if they are c***ted or mistreated by the firm. There are all sorts of tricks like this buried in fine print in the terms and conditions of using online services. It is all terribly unregulated so click “I accept” only after reading and understanding and support legislation to protect privacy and protect consumer rights. This is something the Europeans are way ahead of us on.
