Jackeline Caal had traveled, mostly on foot, a thousand miles or so from Guatemala to the US border. She was exposed to 100F temps and rainy weather. Who knows what she ate along the way? If the girl was suffering from just dehydration, 6 hours may or may not be enough time to treat her. But, is that the case? She was in bad shape when the BP picked her up, dehydrated, exhausted, eight hours after being taken in, she began having seizures--not a common reaction to just dehydration. Her fever grew to 105.7. According to reports, including interviews with her father, she hadn't been given food or water for several days prior to being taken in by the BP. Why is that? Is that president Trump's fault?

Mexican medical professionals are reporting a high number of cases (60%) of respiratory infections among the migrants, they are spitting, sneezing, coughing and vomiting, many are infected with lice and are suffering various insect bites, cases of Tuberculosis and HIV are showing up.

Is it our fault that her father took her on a thousand mile trek across Mexico, exposing her to all kinds of hazards, including unsanitary conditions and human wastes? When US border authorities realized her condition was life threatening, they choppered her to a hospital. They did try to save her life.

Every black hearted l*****t hypocrite who tries to put this girl's death on president Trump's shoulders and by association all of us who support him can Kilo Mike Alpha.

That goes for me to KMA, well put Blade! Did you read where the i***t Beto O’Rourke is blaming the wall for “illegal” migrants deaths. He said this in a townhall meeting, trying to get his name out there for his 2020 run. Talk about politicking. He asked why do we need a wall, what are we fearful of, DUH

Sorry, but I do not believe the border patrol folks would ever have withheld food, water or medical care from a child. But that father should already be on his way back to his own country. Why in the world would any truly caring parent take a little child on such a journey?? One article said he left the other children with his mother, so why was this specific child chosen to accompany him?

Do you know all that happened after they were detained? Of course not, you just jump on every chance to play the blame game. Facts do not matter to you.

The blame lies with the parent, no one else. America, not the border patrol, not the paramedics, not the doctors did anything but their best for this child and played NO part in putting the child in the situation, that decision was all the parent's.

You may have seen this in the news: 7-year-old migrant girl taken into Border Patrol custody dies of dehydration, exhaustion https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/girl-who-crossed-border-dad-died-border-patrol-custody-n947811

Depending on which source you read, the child and her father were detained after they illegally crossed into the US. Without fail, all of the articles seem to be blaming Border Patrol because she started having seizures after they were taken into custody. She was rushed by helicopter to hospital where she died.

I think the parent, who d**gged his daughter into the desert should be held for manslaughter. It was not Border Patrol who put the child in danger, it was her own father. Should these reckless parents be held/arrested when they d**g their kids into conditions that even the most well trained hiker take serious? If this was a US citizen, you can bet you sweet bippy that he would be facing some serious jail time. Indeed, all the articles agree that the child had not had food or water for several days.

What is your opinion?

It was the fathers fault, not Trump's - over his border and immigration policy. Where in the H*LL does it state anywhere that the US is responsible for each and every child AND adult the shows up at our border seeking refuge or asylum. It isn't there. It was the father who d**gged his 9 year old daughter across 400 miles of desert without food and water. Not Trump. Not Border Patrol. Not US policy.

Seriously, I do feel for these people. If you are willing to risk your life to try and get a better life in the US, that illustrates the hardships these people are willing to endure to get here. But, unfortunately, there is no guarantee they WILL get into the US.

I'm going to respond to this out of order.

First, in heat stroke, not heat stress, the body's temperature reaches around 105, there is severe dehydration, and seizures or convulsions are common. But severe dehydration by itself can cause the high temps and seizures whether hot weather were involved or not. To the layman, it might still be termed heat stroke due to the symptoms. And dehydration in children is far more often caused by vomiting and diarrhea than by going a long time without water. So your note of the ill health in the caravan might very well be significant.

The people in the caravan mostly rode in or on vehicles except for each relatively short duration where they were televised such as entering or leaving cities or large towns. If she had walked a thousand miles, it would have taken far longer than today to have reached our border.

And I 100% agree that the adult (whether her father or not) in whose custody she was in is the responsible party!!!!

Lovely, but where do you stand on the issue? Should the US Customs and Border Patrol be held responsible or should her father who put her in danger?

A fair question... Hope I can do it justice...

In my opinion it is a parent's (especially a father's) duty to protect their children...
This man made a choice that I personally could never condone...
Perhaps there were circumstances that forced his hand and led him to endanger his child in such a reckless manner , but at the moment I have found no information to support that hypothesis...

It seems like the border patrol did everything in their power to help this child. Including using a helicopter. It is often difficult to determine the condition of children , especially if their guardian is being less than forthcoming (have no information as to what the father told the border agents at the time)...
I believe they should be commended for their actions and would like to include them in my above mentioned prayer... We often forget how difficult these situations can be for those who have chosen to put themselves on the frontlines...

God bless these border agents. We thank them for their dedication and diligence. May they continue to serve us with honor. Amen

But you have to realize there were thousands of people in this place and if she died that fast she was already past the halfway mark and the father said nothing when they were brought in

Child endangerment!! The children garner sympathy so these people can get money! Just like homeless people have a dog! They play the system! Not saying child like dog! Now this dude will sue and win! If they were black they could call al!

Sure, you see so many standing in the corner for money, and they have their dog with them, thinking dog lovers will surely give them money to feed the dog. That really ticks me off. Same thing with the i******s d**gging their small children in dangerous conditions. The parent is responsible for this, not border patrol.

It doesn't take much to break your heart, particularly when you can blame a Conservative for it. You have apparently absolved the parent, (if the adult really was the parent) of all responsibility for putting a child at risk like that. The adult didn't seem all that worse for wear so someone had some water.

Smedley,

don't get comrade nikki going, he'll start on a history lesson of i*****l m*****ts. I think nikki is a bot, watch how quickly he will go into a long dissertation on how we invaded this country. He will totally forget or throw his ancestors under the bus to express his liberal views on how the world should be.
