The initiating factor was the father smuggling her across the border. It's called felony manslaughter.

Depending on which source you read, the child and her father were detained after they illegally crossed into the US. Without fail, all of the articles seem to be blaming Border Patrol because she started having seizures after they were taken into custody. She was rushed by helicopter to hospital where she died.

I think the parent, who d**gged his daughter into the desert should be held for manslaughter. It was not Border Patrol who put the child in danger, it was her own father. Should these reckless parents be held/arrested when they d**g their kids into conditions that even the most well trained hiker take serious? If this was a US citizen, you can bet you sweet bippy that he would be facing some serious jail time. Indeed, all the articles agree that the child had not had food or water for several days.

What is your opinion?

Any parent that would d**g a child into those conditions isnt a parent I would want. If the child is even his, read where people where snaching kids so they could get into the states and then selling them to s***ers

Your response is right on the mark but the "progressives" will hear none of it. I even saw a story where the progressive socialist psychiatric patient claimed that Trump should be arrested for murder of this child. Pathetic aren't they?

CBP always provides water to i******s found in desert conditions!!!! Without more facts we can only speculate as to all that led up to this death. But IF a person, especially a child, has gone without water for days, giving drinking water can be too late. IV fluids with salts would be necessary but could still be too little too late. There are many deaths each year by i******s attempting to cross the desert. Those who are not familiar with deserts and low humidity conditions, often do not realize their danger. You don't feel the heat as much as in humid areas so don't realize you are in far more danger. And recognizing that a child is in trouble can be difficult especially if the child is in a stressful environment where symptoms might appear to be fear. And heatstroke can occur suddenly without any symptoms of heat exhaustion preceding it. https://www.webmd.com/first-aid/symptoms-dehydration#3

There have been thousands of documented exposure deaths of illegal border crossers in the 21st century. U.S. Border Patrol reported that 3,221 migrants were rescued in the fiscal year 2017.

A fair question... Hope I can do it justice...

In my opinion it is a parent's (especially a father's) duty to protect their children...
This man made a choice that I personally could never condone...
Perhaps there were circumstances that forced his hand and led him to endanger his child in such a reckless manner , but at the moment I have found no information to support that hypothesis...

It seems like the border patrol did everything in their power to help this child. Including using a helicopter. It is often difficult to determine the condition of children , especially if their guardian is being less than forthcoming (have no information as to what the father told the border agents at the time)...
I believe they should be commended for their actions and would like to include them in my above mentioned prayer... We often forget how difficult these situations can be for those who have chosen to put themselves on the frontlines...

God bless these border agents. We thank them for their dedication and diligence. May they continue to serve us with honor. Amen

From several articles that I have read, the child was without water or food for around 7 days according to the autopsy. That makes it the "parents" or whom ever brought the child to the border for her illegal crossing fault and they should be charged with murder through intentional neglect, charged by the Mexican government.

I agree! There is no reason she should have been without food or water for days. There have been food and water being handed out both by officials and various organizations. This means food and water were intentionally withheld by the adult!

Have the authorities taken DNA to prove blood relation? It could be murder by the adult.

DNA tests should b done! One American woman had her child stolen, i******s that were drug dealers k**led her and had her in the back seat of a car looking like she was sleeping!! She was dead and when they did an autopsy she was used as a means to smuggle drugs!!! Where was mom?

When I alluded to where was mom I didn’t mean the woman who’s baby was stolen!!

My opinion is that you are absolutely correct. They’re bringing this on themselves. What began as a chance for a few extra bucks to get them started on this exercise in the ridiculous is ending badly. I don’t give a care for their predicament just as long as they remain in Tijuana or head back home. I do feel for the Tijuana Mayor who is being deserted by the Mexican government who could have stopped them on the southern border instead of escorting them northward.

Only desperate people could take their kids ant ty to cross a huge dessert. Good Samaritans leave clusters of one gallon plastic bottles filled with water forv these desperate people who are risking death. Boarder patrol comes alongand kick the bottles over and drain the water out. Couldnt some one offer the little girl a drink of water and a sandwich. These people may be i******s but they are human beings, they are us, we are all homo sapiens, the same species, they are not dogs

But a desperate man would. It just breaks my heart. I would keep care of her I think of my own daughters and think what if that was us and how awful that a man could become so desperate he would risk death for himself and his little girl crossing that dessert where so many have died attempting it

Like the Jews endangered their children to flee the holocaust. But you skirt the question, pl: she was in custody for SIX HOURS without proper care.

Well, you seem to know a lot about what "Good Samaritans" do for i******s.
I really would rather that they not leave food or water along these trails. It encourages those i******s and also endangering people by encouraging them to march into these areas. Their actions are very far from compassion.... they are endangering i******s. All these people who are rounded up are given water and food is made available to all upon arrival at the holding station. The girl, Jakelin, was provided with both. But, she was already in need of hospitalization. And her "father" gave the border patrol a written statement saying the child was not sick or had any special needs. So, blame the border patrol if you need...but the t***h is, the father or caretaker or perhaps her kidnapper, caused her death, not border patrol.
