BearK back in the hospital with broken leg

She called tonight about 6:30PM (CST), sounding in high spirits but confessing to being in some physical pain. We will be in touch on a weekly basis and will update the OPP forum accordingly. BTW, the injury came from tripping over her Akita's bed near the stairway by her kitchen.

She wanted everyone to know that she will come "storming back" from this setback. Knowing her indomitable spirit and attitude...don't doubt her.

BearK's kind and loving spirit were a help and comfort for me at a particularly difficult point in time. I hope she feels and is surrounded by an overwhelming amount of human care and comfort as she rounds on this hurdle!

Go, Mama Bear!

She is being well tended to by both family and professionals. She will appreciate your kind thoughts once I pass them on to her.

We are really sorry to hear that. She is one of the kindest and most caring people on OPP. Give her our best and let her know we are praying for her to have a swift recovery.

I will certainly do that when I call her on this Sunday afternoon, our agreed upon day(s) for touching base with one another.

She will be pleased to hear of your concerns and prayers.

It's a good thing she isn't a horse.

Our BearK is no horse, Doc. But, she is a thoroughbred Lady.

Any word on how she is doing and when she is coming home? I have a couple of interesting dog books that she should like and give her something to read while she is rec**perating.

Other than she sounded in good spirits, yet admitted to feeling quite a bit of pain...I'll have no further word until I call her Sunday for an update. I'll ask her about your books.

To all: After speaking with BearK early this afternoon, I can tell you that she is dealing with severe pain, accompanied by bouts of depression from being disabled. Knowing her as I do, I can tell you she can't stand being a 'couch potato'. For her, even admitting to pain is rare.

Tomorrow, she is having some staples removed from the area of the break, near the socket joint of the femur and hip-bone. Her surgical doctor will be tending to her.

Give her our love and prayers and tell her that I will send her a couple of books that are interesting and fun.
