Jesse Jackson Jr. to Grab $8,700 Per Month in Disability, Plus a $45,000/yr Pension In Prison

Convicted Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) is scheduled to receive $8,700 per month in government disability pay, as well as a partial federal pension of $45,000. That generous $8,700 in disability comes thanks to Jackson’s sudden development of a "mood disorder" as the federal government began looking to indict him. Jackson, who was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, had no history of mental illness during his prior 17 years in Congress. Rev. Jesse Jackson has defended his son’s claims of mental illness, stating to the court, " This time a year ago I thought we may have lost him."

So, Jesse Jackson, Jr. 17-year veteran of the US Congress, suddenly gets a "mood disorder" (about the same time he learned he was to be indicted) and is going to prison for 2.5 years.

Because his "mood disorder" was so severe, he has become disabled and will receive $8,700 per month as a disability payment as well as $45,000 a year from his congressional pension, a total of about $150K per year. Is this a great country or what?

By the way, I have had a rather substantial "mood disorder disability" ever since Obama got elected in 2008. I have not committed any felonies, have not been convicted and sentenced to prison and I don't get squat..... other than a higher and higher tax bill every year and the privilege of watching our federal deficit grow every day of the year.

8,700 X 12 = 104,400 + 45,000 = $149,400 a year for the rest of his life. . . . .. PAID BY YOU!

Hard to see how Jesse's spawn is going to be able to get by on a paltry $149,400. Perhaps the current occupant of the White House can intervene and arrange for him to be paid a "living wage."

The older I get the more I realize how very little I know.

A person can draw disability while in prison? Could we take his money to pay for his incarceration?

This is one of those stories circulating around that some want to believe so badly they immediately assume the story is true without any concern about its reality. These are the same people who beat the B******i myth to death and are still doing so.

If this story turns out to be true rather than wishful emoting on the part of right wing extremists, it would be an outrage. Yes, this is a great country; you never have to wait to know what you are talking about to start a rumor. If you have any interest in the evidence on this matter, check Snopes.

The story, if true, would be a serious problem and would require remedial action. The reality is that we don't have the facts necessary to judge the matter unless you are a RWE.

He won't be pardoned for the crimes he has been found guilty of committing, but the story going around about the money he is receiving from our government while in prison is only a story, not a fact. If it is found to be true, it is outrageous and we should take the appropriate corrective action.
I think you have gotten the fact that Jackson has been convicted of several crimes and an unsubstantiated story you would really like to believe, and your raw hatred of Obama confused.

Some of us get so anxious to slime people we h**e that we lose sight of the fact that Jackson was convicted of one or more crimes and is serving time for that. That is a fact.
The story we would like to believe is that he is getting large sums of tax payer's money that doesn't seem, from our limited information to be reasonable. Some of us were able to suspend judgment on his federal crimes until he was convicted. Innocent until proven guilty and he was proven guilty. If the money things turns out to be true, he would be guilty, but until that, fairness demands he be considered innocent on that issue. A black, politician, Democrat, from Chicago named Jessie Jackson, how is it possible to withhold judgment?

The liar in chief has that power. I have made no comment as to the money part. But I'll bet senior jackass will lobby the liar in chief for a full pardon. I am not confused at all. My hatred of O is no different that my hatred of all the corporate controlled puppets. So by extension, you might say I h**e ALL big corporations. Corporations are not people and should not have the same rights as if a person. With the usurpation of personhood rights and capture of government began the downfall of this country with the outsourcing of jobs and continual warmongering for the profit of the MIC.

You'd be wrong! I am not biased. I h**e all corporate puppet greedy, self-serving politicians. The liar in chief just happens to be in that category.
If you v**ed for O because he was black, you are a r****t.
If you didn't v**e for O because he was black, you are a r****t.
If you v**ed for O because he ran as a dimwit and you believed his lies, you are ignorant.

It has yet to be determined whether Jackson is receiving the $8,700 disability money and he can't get retirement from his job for several years:

I guess he didn't steal enough campaign funds. How much is it going to cost the taxpayers to keep him (he has been moved to a minimum security camp in Montgomery) in the country club setting. He should be having to do hard labor and community service. Then put out on the street and kept homeless and broke.

I guess the $750,000 he stole in campaign funds wasn't enough.
