Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) made public the results of a DNA test on Monday, which an expert said shows “strong evidence’’ that she has a Native American ancestor.

Warren provided the test results to The Boston Globe on Sunday, the newspaper said, “in an effort to defuse questions about her ancestry that have persisted for years.” According to the paper, the disclosure is another strong sign that she is seriously considering running for president.

“The vast majority” of Warren’s ancestry is European but “the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor” six to 10 generations ago, according to Carlos D. Bustamante, a Stanford University professor who analyzed the results.

This means she could be 1/32nd Native American, or just 1/512th Native American if the ancestor is 10 generations back.

Yes, the result was reported to be that she has a "smidgen" (according to the Washington Times) of Indian blood, but no more than any other non-native in America.

The Cherokee tribal council evidently has a bone to pick with her (actually, two bones) because a) they are not happy that she took the DNA test, and b) she's refused to meet with them to allow them to question her about her purported Cherokee ancestry.

I trust the Washington Times a lot more than I do "that other paper" in DC.

That is not quite accurate, Pete. It's 1*64 at 6 generations back and 1/1024 at ten generations. She has less native American DNA than the average European American.

Even if she was 1*64, she would be too distant to claim native American status by a factor of four. At 1/1024, she has less Native American DNA than the Average European American who can provide not discernable link to any native American Tribe.

The Only thing she accomplished was to draw more attention to herself and away from the needs of Democrat candidates at this time. Like most Liberal attention grabbers, she ultimately made a total fool of herself.
