Actors spend most of their lives pretending to be someone else, most of their thinking comes from scripts and screenplays and studying the psychology and behavior of another human being. When they must think for themselves, their IQs fall to the level of children, or apes.
I recall an interview with Leonard Nimoy some years ago during which he related what happened to his personal life when he got so far into his role as Spock that he was no longer Leonard Nimoy when he came home from work. His wife confronted him, told him she was sick and tired of all the "that is not logical" bulls**t and the "fascinating, captain" replies. He said he actually had to work at it to leave Spock in the studio.
