I didn't find out until recently that high school kids of today couldn't read cursive.

Don't they teach cursive in school anymore? I don'y think that they teach math anymore either. Kids today don't know how many are in a dozen or half dozen and if you give them a dollar a nickel and a three pennies and ask for a quarter back for an .83 cent bill they have a stunned look on their face.

I live in Massachusetts and if I ask a young person of today to spell Massachusetts, they say MA. Most can't spell the whole word and they live in this state. My daughter never learned much history at all and today I think it's even worse.

And that failure of parents and teachers should be considered a crime, and a failure of education.

EL, next time you’re at the bank ask your teller who owns the “Federal Reserve”? I’ve only had 1(one) teller in a decade know the answer.
