Sadly in my couple of years on OPP I have seen many posts showing at the least disrespect and at the most murderous hatred toward people of various races religions and ethnic groups. Some attack Palestinians others Jews, some h**e b****s or Mexicans, Arabs and especially Muslims are abused by others. It perplexes me but got me to thinking if you are anti Semitic and h**e Muslims how do you decide who to h**e more? Israeli or Palestinian? Who are you most threatened by? African Americans or Hispanics? Are you more offended by gay men, lesbians or t***s g****r people. Narrow minded bigotry requires a lot of thinking these days, no wonder so many of you are always so angry.

Earlier commenters have covered most of what I might write, but I had to put forward my own reactions to this post, since it is so far off base as to be offensive.

We live in a nation whose ideals are to treat everyone with respect and recognition of their rights as individuals, regardless of their sex, color, race, age, or origin of birth. Christian morality demands even more of us: to love our neighbors, for instance. That is the set of standards many of us were raised to comply with, while h**e itself was relegated to oblivion.

Further, to h**e a whole nation of people is ridiculous, even if we are at war with some of them. What we abhor are the evil policies, directions and actual steps or actions some people take that threaten us, our way of life, and our well-being and most of those involved are the leaders and their adherents not the commoners that must follow as ordered. Most of us abhor evil in any of its disguises, and we have learned from experience that we must face evil down wherever it is found, else it will metastasize to all our sorrow.

So the real issue is to recognize evil and cope with it appropriately wherever found if we can. The fight between good and evil has a long history in the literature and there have been quite a few attempts to define them both properly , plus to tease out the differences in the definitions of what is good and what is evil in societies around the world, to minimize their impact on us and on our friends where possible, and then to stand for and encourage changes to evil practices in some evil-ridden societies.

H**e itself is, of course, evil.

I do not h**e Muslims they just needed to go somewhere other than America, because we have our own legal system here, do not need theirs. I love and respect Israel and have no h**e or dislike for it's people. As for people with a******l behaviors they should keep in their private tents as most normal do their sex acts in private places not in public so what they do is their own business. But as for P*******es they and their practices should be eradicated period. AS FOR YOU - you are a flying Kite I just wish the wind would blow you some where else rather than here, otherwise take a long trip.

This is the same crowd that adhere to the idea (to paraphrase Shakespeare) of "How do I h**e thee … let me count the ways." I won't go into any psych profiles except to define them as insular, intensely sectarian and/or religious, and are highly resistant to change. They also can't stand the idea of the country becoming a majority-minority nation wherein they perceive that white (predominantly male) privilege is going to be a thing of the past. I see the same type of faces in Trump rallies that can be seen at any WWE event or NASCAR race. They were also evident at Charlottesville.
They are the same crowd that believes that:
===> 'Childhood v******tions cause autism.' There is no proof that this is true.

===> 'Same-sex marriage will disrupt the entire social fabric of the country.' No such thing has occurred in spite of the dire predictions of the right.

===> 'C*****e c****e may be real but it is not caused by any human endeavor.' Almost all the scientific community is united in claiming this to be incorrect. All the ice sheet data has shown that the rate of g****l w*****g is magnitudes greater in the last fifty years than at any period that they have seen, going back tens of thousands of years.

===> 'Russia is our friend and is to be trusted.' Putin is an ex-KGB colonel that thinks nothing of invading other countries and disappearing political opponents. He's played us any number of times already, and will do so again.

===> 'North Korea is our friend and will de-nuclearize.' Chairman Kim is a human rights abuser of the highest order, and runs one of the most repressive regimes on the earth. He, his father and grandfather have worked steadfastedly to achieve nuclear weapon status with the ability to deliver them for at least sixty years, and become a player on the world stage. He won't give them up without major leverage, which is dubious.

===> 'Jared Kushner will bring peace to the Middle-East singlehandedly.' So far, this has only increased Israeli settlement building in the West Bank, and created an increasingly hostile Iran, who was complying with the joint powers agreement on nuclear progress.

===> 'The Bildebergers and George Soros are out to turn the country into a socialist nation and establish a "New World Order"'. While the global financial elites do possibly represent a shadow government, a lot of our high flyers are participating as well, so we're not entirely blameless in this arena. Socialism in this context is an authoritarian regime that resembles C*******m at its height.

===> 'Universal health care equates to socialized medicine and is therefore bad.' All I can say is that medical outcomes across the board are far better in countries that have this than we have. And the cost per patient is far greater in the United States for equivalent outcomes.

===> 'Michelle Obama is a t***ssexual.' Another ridiculous claim with absolutely no basis in fact.

===> Barak Obama is a secret, non-native Muslim that had his birth certificate f**ed years before it was known that he would be a successful politician. For the most part, his policies were no better or worse than any other liberal politician, but the fact that he was black made them magnitudes worse.

===> 'Trump is a successful businessman and multi-billionaire.' This is in spite of multiple bankruptcies, failed business ventures and millions of dollars from his father to prop up his failures. The recent article in the NYT, backed up with multiple documents and sources lays bare the fact that he was not as successful as he claims, and relied on his father's wealth to bail him out. Think Trump Steaks, Trump Wine, Trump University and Trump Casinos. Even the NFL wouldn't let him buy a team.

===> 'There is absolutely no corruption in the administration.' Let's see … over forty aides, agency heads and cabinet secretaries have left the administration under a cloud of ethical or financial violations.

===> 'Trump is a paragon of moral virtue.', This is in spite of being a serial adulterer, multiple divorcee, proven serial liar, being non-religious, and of dubious moral character. Even evangelical groups are now removing their support from Trump.

I will be flamed as usual for a multitude of reasons, such as "Your facts are totally wrong"; "You're a left-wing C****e F*ggot"; "You don't understand the real world"; "You're a moron" or worse (much worse), etc. etc.
Everything that I've stated is true so far as I know. The "that's all f**e news" crowd will cite all kinds of dubious sources (most with absolutely no credibility) to refute any and all theses that conflict with their virtual reality. But all this won't make any difference to most of the OPP contributors. It's a waste of time to try to make any inroads in their thinking, but it had to be said even if it falls on deaf ears. Their minds are indeed rusted shut.
