Why Democrats Are the Party of Ine******y

So now we know why Democrats are adopting economic ine******y as their central issue: because their constituents, the people who live under policies crafted by the left, are the ones who experience the highest degree of income ine******y in their own lives.

That's the upshot of a recent study of income ine******y organized by congressional district: "Across the country, ine******y is lower in Republican districts than in Democratic ones" and is "highest in the New York district of Representative Jerry Nader, a liberal Democrat." Who has the congressional district with the least income ine******y? That would be Tea Party favorite Michele Bachman who represents suburban Minneapolis.

So no wonder Democrats are enamored with all of that rhetoric about ine******y and class warfare. Their constituents, the audience they are addressing, are far more likely to live in the American equivalent of Rio de Janeiro, a class society starkly divided between squalid, hopeless, crime-ridden favelas and safe, beautiful downtown playgrounds for the rich.

As usual, the Democrats are arsonists posing as the fire brigade, offering to solve a problem they created.

Excerpt from article by Robert Tracinski in The Federalist.

The Republicans have big problems. They can't win the White House with just the v**es of their perpetually pissed angry white base.

They have to make inroads into the minority v**e as well as the v**e of modern women.

They have decided, in a P.R. move, to use political judo and take the Democrats strengths and convert them into "weaknesses".

The only problem is neither the minorities nor young women are so stupid as to believe the GOP's past pissing on their heads was just a form of rain.

Do you really think you will get the White House back again, when the "fish" repeatedly reject your baited "hooks?"

So, for you it's all about identity politics - about race as the defining characteristic of a person.

As to who has done the most damage to b****s, tell us about the status of b****s in those areas most dominated by liberal Democrats. Did Republicans make places like Detroit, Camden, Newark, Philadelphia and Chicago the hell hole they've become for black people?

As to income ine******y, look at perhaps the bluest state in the union, the one with the most billionaires, California. Look at the most prominent politicians - Pelosi, Boxer and Feinstein - all multi-millionaires - the state with the biggest disparity. If you want to see poverty that resembles the worst in Appalachia, take a trip to Yuba City -or Modesto - or Stockton - and virtually any other non-coastal area.

Apparently, you have never been to Appalachia! There are people living in the hollows there that still have outhouses and no running water. The only places in America where that exists otherwise are places where people do it deliberately for fun (with their SUVs and campers with satellite TV parked outside).

I've been to both - have you? Better yet, are you suggesting that the wealth disparity is greater in those areas run by conservatives than those run by liberals?

Identity politics: Democratic coalition building. Something that makes Republicans scratch their heads. They don't get it because it means sharing and having to play well with others (who don't look like them, rabid "We love Ben Carson" denials aside).

It seems to me places like Detroit, Camden, Chicago, and Philadelphia, and others cuch as Cleveland, Baltimore, Buffalo. The former industrial heartland may have a lot of democrats (as conservative's like to tell us ) but that's not the source of their problems. economic policies of the last 40 years that de-industrialized the nation and the US multinational corporations who have no allegience to anything but profit and have moved offshore in a race to the bottom, are those who re responsible, and politicians who make laws that make it possible are republicans and the republican wannabes from the Democratic party.

The areas that you mention in California who have the most poverty are all inland conservative areas. The further one gets from the coast the more you find. Get to Fresno, Bakersfield, the inland valley's and it's like being in a swamp up to your ass in allagators.

You are right, in your observations. Republicans and Democratic "lite" politicians both outsourced the middle class with NAFTA. Bill Clinton was nothing more than a corporate Republican with an "I feel your pain" smiley face.

In terms of Calif. inland cities Sacramento is the one big exception, being heavily Democratic. There is no demographic majority group. W****s, B****s, Hispanics, Asians, Arabs and Jews are all minorities there.

Wow - areas run by liberal Democrats that have been devastated have all been devastated by Republicans - and the poor in California are all conservatives while the rich are liberals, justifying their income ine******y with that comment while other income e******y of the poor liberals also the fault of conservatives. Amazing how one can twist reality in order to justify pre-conceived notions.

Wow - now Republicans are responsible for Clinton too - I guess one needs to get crazier and crazier to remain liberal

I grew up in Appalachia! We hauled drinking water from natural springs in milk jugs and bathed with rainwater that we collected from our roof in our room-size cistern. We did have a commode installed in the corner of our basement that we used in the winter, but in the summer we used our two-seater outhouse! That was many years ago, but there are still many thousands of people still doing it. I still have friends and family who live in Appalachian hollows.

I lived in the Bay Area from 2002 to 2005 and am pretty familiar with Yuba City, Modesto, and Stockton.

I wasn't suggesting anything about liberals and conservatives. Were you? I was only commenting that the poverty in some parts of Appalachia is much worse than that in the cities you mentioned.

Actually...I have been to Alaska several times. I was not exposed to anyone living in poverty, though. I visited U.S. Navy facilities in Adak...not exactly the heartland where native peoples live. I don't doubt that there is much poverty there, too. I was not suggesting in any way that Appalachia is the only place in the country that is poverty-stricken.

fairy-tale democrats can conjure up anything from their toybox...pathetic little adult-children. what they can't conjure up are facts...unless made-up.
