August 16 at 2:44 PM

William H. McRaven, a retired Navy admiral, was commander of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014. He oversaw the 2011 Navy SEAL raid in Pakistan that k**led al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Dear Mr. President:

Former CIA director John Brennan, whose security clearance you revoked on Wednesday, is one of the finest public servants I have ever known. Few Americans have done more to protect this country than John. He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question, except by those who don’t know him.

Therefore, I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency.

Like most Americans, I had hoped that when you became president, you would rise to the occasion and become the leader this great nation needs.

A good leader tries to embody the best qualities of his or her organization. A good leader sets the example for others to follow. A good leader always puts the welfare of others before himself or herself.

This letter says it all really, for many of us.

Trump continues to tear down our faith in our people, and governing.

No one is restricting your ability to have faith in our people.

Are you not free to speak as you please ?

If you have allowed your faith to be torn down, don't use Trump as an excuse for not building it right back up.

I never let Obammy tear down my faith.

And remember he was the one who said, " you didn't build that ".

Five generations of my family put in the work and sweat and resources to build our businesses.

So Obammy's flippant remark did nothing but strengthen my faith.

I have faith that you will remain vigil and not allow your faith to be copromised by anyone.

Trump wrote this up weeks ago. He needed a distraction from Omarosa, so this works for the media until he pulls something else. He is only hurting the country with this stunt.

Did your family make use of US infrastructure? If so they did not do it all on their own. The general does not win the war without the grunts. This is what he meant.

He served with honor - that is not being questioned and we thank him for his service. But now that he's retired, he's just stating his own beliefs. His last promotion to Commander of USJSOC was in 2011 under President Obama, who put "his kind of commanders" in place throughout the military. All I have to say to the Admiral is "no problem, Sir. Your clearance is hereby revoked. And if any of your buddies feels the same way, we'll be happy to oblige them".

I'll bet his family paid the taxes that built that infrastructure while many, many who never paid taxes use it too.
Lousy argument.

It makes plenty of sense. I pay road, and bridge taxes, school taxes, taxes on the electricity I use, etc.
Many don't pay those taxes due to the government payouts they recieve.

In other words, I pay for the roads I drive on, and everything that goes with them.

I own my property as long as I pay taxes to fund schools, roads, courts, cops, firefighters, and multiple other things. I actually rent what I bought, and paid for from the county, because if I don't pay the taxes, they'll take it. I pay school taxes when I haven't had a kid in school in 15 years. I pay taxes for the privilege of driving vehicles that I bought, and paid for through honest work.
Yeah, I built that.
Is that more clear?
