Here in Tennessee Passover has entered in with snow. Well, maybe it will refresh the earth, I think it could use a good cleansing.

Because of the cloud cover we could not view the blood moon.

bahmer, I was ready to get out the telescope and tri-pod, unused since my son's high school days, but in Indiana, it was also too overcast for effective viewing.

Our solace is in knowing the "signs of the times," as Jesus said repeatedly in Matthew and Mark: "Watch."

And in Luke:

"There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke: 21:25, 21:36)

I have told my children and grandchildren that those signs are not only coming but are here. We have the powers to the north flexing their mighty muscles again. We have the powers to the east in China, North Korea and the like flexing their muscles and seemingly joining in with Russia and the north. Lastly the powers to the south that have been at constant war with each other and Israel are the Muslim nations coupled with Egypt. I would imagine that India and a good portion of Africa will join those ranks as well. Obama is destroying the might of America and proceeding to cripple us. Obama and Netanyahu are not friends and one could call them enemies. Lastly the signs in the skies and the earthquakes that are happening. I am sure we will signs in the sea shortly and all over the earth. Look at the persecution of the Christian faith all over the world and now here. The time is indeed getting short.

God is definitely showing His sense of humor, in refuting the "G****l W*****g" lies.

By giving us the coldest winter in many years, as a wake-up call to those who choose to worship the creation, a.k.a. the earth, rather than the Creator, god has not given up on the recalcitrate.

It's 39 degrees here at present, after being a balmy 76 degrees on Sunday, now, another cold wave.

The ancient remembrance of God's Passover of the Hebrews usually coincides with warmer weather; God is still sovereign.

PRAYING CURSES ON GOD’S ENEMIES: The Imprecatory Prayers
By Doug Giles / 15 April 2014 / 18 Comments

What is an imprecatory prayer?

It is a biblical prayer asking God to crush a clear enemy of His, an enemy which is an aggressive adversary of freedom and peace loving people.

Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Precious Moments Figurine Collector, the Bible is filled with maledictions prayed by saints and speedily answered by God against violently impenitent enemies of liberty and righteousness.

Here are a couple examples:

“Break the teeth in their mouths, O God; tear out, O Lord, the fangs of the lions! Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows be blunted. Like a slug melting away as it moves along, like a stillborn child, may they not see the sun. The righteous will be glad when they bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.” Psalm 58.6-10.

“Pour out your wrath on them; let your fierce anger overtake them. May their place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in their tents. For they persecute those you wound and talk about the pain of those you hurt. Charge them with crime upon crime; do not let them share in your salvation. May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.” Psalm 69.24-28.

Given the soft-focused, effeminate condition of evangelicalism, I’ll bet the great majority of Christians have never even heard of an imprecatory prayer, much less prayed one. More than likely, the above God-inspired texts aren’t on their refrigerator scripture magnets either. I’ll go a step further and venture to guess that the majority of evangelical and Catholic clergy don’t even know what an imprecatory prayer is and have probably never taught on them or prayed them from the pulpit (Please investigate and report back to me.)

If my assumption regarding your typical congregation and clergy is true, then this is sad, unbiblical and a prime reason why militant enemies of God, freedom and humanity continue to march on unimpeded. We are not using the spiritual big guns of imprecatory prayer against the beasts of unrighteousness.

Y’know, most religious people are familiar with Christ telling us to “bless our enemies” in prayer and to “love our enemies”. We should do both. But seldom to never do we hear about the “other” prayers for our enemies, prayers to be prayed when our enemies become clear and implacable enemies of mankind. Yes, there comes a time when the intercessors’ gloves must come off and enough is enough and we pray the “not so nice prayers”.

It’s simple: when our enemies move from being foes who have personally wronged us, or have made fun of our bad comb over, or have flamed us via our Facebook group, to becoming enemies of righteousness then it is time to stop praying the “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep” stuff and start asking God to thwart and stamp out these bug eyed loons who want to hijack our freedoms and make it conform to their jacked up view of “life”.

So start tossing imprecatory prayers heavenward and watch what God does to the godless. The celestial spanking of the impenitent is no big deal for God. It’s His will. So, get busy.

Let us pray.

* Author’s note: Of the 150 psalms contained in the Bible’s prayer book, i.e., the Psalms, 104 are imprecations. Hello! Also, these psalms are to be sung and read, unedited, during the worship service (Ephesians 5.19). For an irrefutable book on this hot topic, check out James Adams’s work, “War Psalms of the Prince of Peace”. In the mean time, here’s a short list of imprecatory psalms: Psalm 5, 7, 9, 10, 17, 25, 28, 31, 35, 40, 41, 54, 55, 56, 58, 59, 63, 68, 69, 70, 71, 74, 79, 83, 94, 104, and 109.

bahmer,

That's a weighty question, - just some quick thoughts, which may or not
be cohesive:

I checked "A Handbook of Theological Terms, by Van A. Harvey, Copyright 1964, for "Imprecatory."

It's not there. Apparently two thousand years of Christianity neglected to teach this praying down curses - until now.

God's dealing with David was fulfilling the Abrahamic covenant, a covenant for the physical land of Israel, with physical boundaries, and God's promise to David that the Messiah would come from his bloodline, and the throne of his descendant would be an eternal one.

After Jesus instituted the New Covenant, based on the shedding of His blood, as propitiation for the sins of all men, if they personally believed and accepted; His followers, the church, the Body of Christ were given their own commission: "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel."

Noun: imprecation

1.The act of calling down a curse that invokes evil (and usually serves as an insult)

"he suffered the imprecations of the mob"

2.A slanderous accusation

Verb: imprecate

1.Wish harm upon; invoke evil upon
"The bad witch imprecated the child"

2.Utter obscenities or profanities

Imprecatory prayer is prayer asking God to k**l, maim, curse, send into eternal damnation, or otherwise harm an enemy.

I believe Jesus answered this in the negative in the first century:

When His disciples James and John (whom Jesus called the Boanerges, meaning "Sons of Thunder")) saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?"

But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what kind of spirit you are of;

for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them..." (Luke 9:54-56)

The lawful government is charged with the duty of protecting it's citizens and national boundary, and of administering justice to those who commit crimes.

The Body of Christ, the "ecclesia," (Greek for "congregation" or the "called out" ones) is charged with worshipping God, and as Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

The two seem to be often confused.

The church is not the government, and the government is not the church.

Jesus said, Give unto Caesar the things that are Caesars, and unto God the things that are Gods.

Pray for protection, pray that God preserve our nation. Pray for our military's safety, and that they succeed, when called to protect us, but not for curses to be rained down upon anyone.

Individually, as Christians, or in a congregation:

Romans 12:14: "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse."

Bahmer, I neglected a couple of issues:

We have a right to defend our family and home, as Cliven Bundy is attempting to do, through the courts, and as a last resort, through personal confrontation.

The Bible says:

1 Timothy 5:8: "But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

Romans 12:18: "If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men."

We are told to subject ourselves to authority, but when a government acts unlawfully, ignoring it's own duly passed laws, and behaves in a lawless manner, ignoring God' laws, we have a priority, as Peter said:

Acts 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men."

We live in an age of increasing apostasy, and spiritual darkness is enveloping much of the world, but in the words of a mere mortal, Dylan Thomas, "Rage, rage, against the dying of the light."

I like the part about if possible live at peace with all men.

There are coming times when that may not be possible.

I forgave the individual that hit and k**led my nineteen year old son, and that was about the most difficult thing that I have had to do.

I've lost my wife and am now alone, and the idea of asking for a little revenge does sound sweet.

Living the Christian life, and being a pacifist is difficult, especially in todays age where the Christians are becoming fair game in the court house by those that reject Christ, twist laws, and insert verbiage, that is not in the law in the first place to attack Christians.

I also attribute the change in this country to the Christians, who are pacifists, and did nothing to fight against these laws in court, to prevent this onslaught of legal attacks, on the Church and Gods people.

I know the pain of losing a child, I'm very sorry, & also for the loss of your wife. You are right, when all this stuff about separation of church and state came about, we sat silent.

bahmer, I am so sorry you lost your son, then your wife, leaving you doubly bereft while on earth, although with hope in Christ for life beyond this one.

It took great faith on your part to be able to forgive, as an act of your will, and in obedience to Christ.

No one who has not walked in your shoes can possibly know how difficult that was.

I don't believe what the Scriptures teach is "pacifism" per se.

My belief is that Christians should always do everything in their power to defend their family, their home, and all innocent or helpless people who come across their paths, especially children. I believe this is validated by the Holy Scriptures.

I believe that when Atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair's "Murray v. Curlett" lawsuit led to a Supreme Court ruling ending Bible-reading and prayer in American public schools in 1963;

followed in 1973, by Supreme Court Justice Blackmun's written ruling finding a hitherto unknown "right to privacy" incorporating within it the right to murder the unborn,

Christians should have united in protest, verbally, vocally, and peacefully, and in person marched in Washington D.C., by the millions.

We, as Christian believers were invisible, as though shocked into silence, and we have, for the most part, remained so ever since...

for by sheer numbers, if united, we could have elected representatives and senators who could have written new and better laws to protect freedom of religion and protection of the helpless.

Our nation now, is as God foresaw and foretold in II Timothy 3rd chapter:

"But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.

For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant,

revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal,

h**ers of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure

rather than lovers of God,

holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power;

Avoid such men as these." (II Timothy 3:1-5)

That is starting to take in a greater and greater portion of our country isn't it. I believe that there are large portions of each coast that will fall into these categories as well as some sections in the Midwest as well. Mostly the problems stem from the large cities around this great country as that h-is where Lucifer does most of his dirty work. Cities like New York, Washington, Charlotte N.C., Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Oakland, Chicago, Milwaukee and such. Most rural communities are still pretty much the basic conservatives living their lives and letting others live theirs as well. It seems that the more one gets into the workings of a city the more one sees the love of money, corruption, dirty politics, greed, sex and other d*****t behavior becoming more and more prevalent. I see the end of America in these great wastelands of perversion and iniquity. May God help America before it becomes to late.
