Noticed there seem to be a lot of Veterans posting here. To all of you from a peace-time Vet (1974-1983) thank you all for your service and God Bless You. You, along with those who are serving today, are the spine that keeps America standing upright, proud, and free. The US Armed Forces are like no other in the world and we should all be honored to have served. I know I am

Any man or woman who serves this country in the military is a true American patriot.

Glad you found this. I was actually going to respond to one of your posts elsewhere when I decided to open a topic instead. So many amazing people here at OPP. Whether or not we agree on things I think we can all agree that serving in the Armed Forces is a part of our lives we will never forget. Heck the Army even issued me my wife. We met as privates and left the Army as SSGs to go to college. Still my favorite Gal 44 years later.

She'll always outrank me. She was an Army brat. Her Dad was a retired WO3 who then retired from the border patrol. She would have had no problem making E9 if we'd stayed in. I'm sorry your better half PCSd without you but she's probably just getting your new quarters squared away for you both.

Yes, she was just 21 and our son 6 months old when a drunk driver k**led them. I sure miss them.

Semper Fi brother and take care of your BETTER HALF 😁😎

wow. So now we know why you don't consider things that annoy most folks to be worth the bother. Anyone who's experienced something like that in their life has the important things in proper perspective. The rest of us have much to learn.

Awesome. I was so interested in WWII growing up. What theater? Did you serve on any particular ships or in any battles I may have run across in my studies?

Just checked them out on-line. My guess is you preferred the accommodations on the USS Hocking since it sounds like it was huge compared to the USS Senneca (except, of course, when you had a load of landing troops aboard).
