In September 2016, a study published by The Lancet compared the health of people in countries around the world....

Using data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries and Risk Factors research carried out from 1990 to 2015, a Socio-demographic Index found that Iceland, Singapore, Sweden, Andorra, and the UK were the five healthiest countries worldwide.

United Kingdom. ...According to Wilkinson, Brits are moving away from processed foods in favour of local, seasonal produce. She said that winter vegetables such as swedes, parsnips and brussel sprouts, which are commonly grown in the UK, are "richer in nutrients such as vitamin C and contain more valuable fibre."

Andorra. ...The Socio-Demographic Index warned that alcohol consumption is a growing issue when it comes to global health, but the tiny nation of Andorra, which came fourth in the list, has the second largest wine consumption rate in the world...Red wine contains an antioxidant called resveratrol, which, according to Wilkinson, can "prevent cardiovascular health conditions such as high cholesterol by protecting blood cells and platelets." Red wine also thins the blood, which can prevent blood clots that can be linked to strokes.
A good reason to drink red wine and I do..😃

Sweden. ...Swedish diet contains plenty of foods that are good for digestion. "The Swedish eat high-quality dairy products, and they are well known for producing healthy fermented dairy products," ...One local delicacy which is similar to yoghurt is filmjölk, which contains different beneficial bacteria to plain yoghurt.

Singapore. ...herbs and spices found in Singaporean cuisine help to prevent illness, which is perhaps one of many reasons it is the second healthiest country in the world.
Spices like ginger and turmeric, which are crucial for making a traditional laksa curry, have anti-inflammatory and anti-nausea properties. Added that ginger also improves circulation, "allowing more vital nutrients to reach each organ."

Iceland....As one expect, Fish plays a key role in Icelandic life — species like salmon and herring, which are commonly eaten in the country, contain essential fatty acids like Omega-3, which can slow down the release of carbohydrates into the body....

"They can make you feel fuller for longer and also control hunger....

Supports the theory just by what we eat we may live longer with healthy foods our goal...

What healthy foods do you enjoy and why??

Welp, I have a decent variety of wild berries available, my folks have a substantial orchard on the old farm with a bunch of variety of apples, sweet and sour cherries, pears and apricots and I have my garden. I don’t eat a whole lot of ‘store bought’ food if I can help it, although I am partial to harvest cheddar and garden salsa SunChips from time to time. We deer hunt here for all my red meat and we occasionally process up a goat. I know, it sounds odd, but goat is delicious. I have given it to people that didn’t know what they were having and they said it wasn’t baaaaaad. Heeheehee.

I do believe you have just described a bit of heaven with all the magnificence we are given yet fail to see!!!

Wild berries, apples, pears, cherries etc.. How lush your farm seems.. Can’t be anything but healthy, along with being out in the fresh air and sun, walking it, enjoying.

What is the flavor of a goat?? How do you cook it?? Deer, venison, bison I have had and enjoyed the bison most.. The deer was only a taste because bambi was all I could see...

Garden salsa Sun Chips, know them well along with their wheat veggie.....

I must commend you for your obvious healthy life style, Highlander.. Thank You for sharing a bit of you with us. Of all the variety you have, what is your favorite??

I grow different herbs and some veggies but certainly not anywhere near what you have on that beautiful farm..

I certainly agree with you about store bought processed foods etc we can all do without them.. The sodium used in them is enough to cause cardiac arrest!!

If you tell me goat tastes like chicken I will give you this:

As does half cup warm water with half a lemon squeezed into it..When I got out of the hospital from pnemonia in December they gave me an RX for some kind of water pills wanting to keep fluid off me.. I read up on them and thought these things aren’t good for my kidneys so I went looking for natural... The asparagus and lemon water worked just fine!!!

Young kids taste a lot like lamb but as they grow up the taste changes a lot. I personally don't like adult goat meat or mutton. Young goat tastes best if you souvide (Cook in a water bath for a number of hours at round 140 degrees )and then finished on a smoker . I love goat cheese but the meat is not my favorite. I think it is because goats have a lot of oil glands right under the skin and that changes the taste and texture, making the meat more gamey than lamb.
