Hi, reeper57 here , born and in the great state of Kentucky ( go big blue) . Raised a country boy worked really hard all my life , I believe in God and Country, two subject's that aren't very popular these days.
I am 61 years old and kinda glad of it, when I was young I wanted to live to be 100 to 200 years old to see where mankind had came and what great advances we had made ( has anyone thought the old ' 60' s tv show Star Trek , a lot off that technology is in USA today) yes we have made some great strides , but I am kinda glad I am 61 because now I see my pipe dream as a kid was all wrong , I h**e to see the world in twenty years from now if I do live twenty more years from now I will be 81 and to old to care anyway . When I watch my 19 year old niece who has a scholarship to collage of her chose use her fingers to add 7 + 11 all I can do is shake my head. She was going to be an art teacher but then told me it didn't pay enough .She said the starting base pay was only $27, 000 a year.So we figured it up all through high school she would start second week of August and get out the first week of May (9 months) then we looked at her school calendars those 4 years , out of the 9 months they got an average 49 days off a year , that means they only went 7 and one half months a year. So let me get this straight $ 27, 000 base pay is not enough to work 7 and a half months a year and get paid all year . She is right , let's pay them by the hr. and only for hours worked.
I went to school in the 1960' s / 70' s , if you looked in the parking lot you saw more pick- up trucks than cars , almost all had a gun rack in the back glass with 3 or 4 guns off all kinds in them nobody locked their car or truck door you would see guy's and girls standing around comparing rifles and such never, never heard of one child getting shot at , shot or k**led in any school. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE??
We got all of the k*****gs we want watching the evening news VIETNAM . Yeah it was live on every news station every night.Oh well I'm done. Hi ya'll
Hi, you post about covers me, i turn 82 next week so iv'e seen quite a change over the years. Born a country boy in "By God West Virginia"
HI, reeper57. Welcom, and thanks for your intro and your thoughts. I'm with you all the way. I'm 76 and relate to much of what you said. I graduated college with a teaching degree, but I only lasted 3 years back in the late 60's. I went into the insurance field for 20 years, then answered a call to ministry and am still serving a small church on a part-time basis. Whenever I check out at the store, and the clerk gives me a handful of change and says, "your change is $3.69," I ask them to count it back to me. If they can't do it, I show them how. It is disturbing to me that they just let a machine tell them what the change should be. I guess I'm letting my COMS get the best of me (Cranky Old Man Syndrome).
Thanks all , like I said pipe dreams of living to be 100/ 200 yrs. are gone .Sad to say but I don't want to see it now. A country without God can't stand, but here LBGT and aboration are the most important things to worry about. reeper57

Welcome to a fellow Kentuckian! I'm 70 and like you went to school in the 60's and 70's. I worked my way through College and never borrowed a dime. That's why I have no sympathy for kids today. I don't post a lot but I read most of what others do. (I get a lot of laughs). So sit back, dig in and you'll soon sort out the grain from the chaff. One thing, if you haven't already figured it out for yourself, use the "quote reply" when responding to a particular comment. That helps us know who you're answering. Call me RJ.

I lived in the great state of Kentucky from 1947 to 1951 then joined the Navy. At 84 now, I am saddened and amazed at events today. Eating detergent and snorting condoms! You have to be kidding.
I'll keep it short so welcome aboard.
Need help? How 'bout we start with a small Caribbean island for starters. Then maybe just blow up the rest of the world since it's going to s**t anyway.
