What everyone needs to remember, even Christians; churches are made up of human beings. Some are real Christians, some are just wanna be's. Church is different from other social organizations in that it is not an organization but rather it is an organism. The Church is the mystical Body of Christ still entrenched in a fallen sinful world.

There can be at times evil in the church if the devil is allowed to get a foothold. Just like your home, work, school. You have real friends, you have some acquaintences (SP) , and you have some you don't like to be around.

The first place you should find perfection is the church, but sad to say, even the devil goes to church.

IMHO Bill Maher is one of the most hurtful, mean spirited, degrading people in the entertainment industry.

He does much damage to the image of celebrities. One thing that the Bible is very clear about, God H**ES arrogance in both men and women, even rich or poor.

Some people seem to think Christians think the rich are sinners and the poor are saints. Well that is a lie. There can be arrogant poor people as well as rich.

Let me just say this, If there is a God, ( I believe with all my heart there is), Maher has much on his plate to answer for. He openly defies God by his hurtful remarks regarding people who do not deserve his nastiness. or his arrogance.

I have seen many of your post some I agree 100% with.

Some are like these, I would ask you don't lower yourself to his level because you seem like a decent person.

The first picture is my projected persona on my blog. The current pic is one I modified from an Aussie movie ad and fits much better with the general run of comments on this site, and that's the plain t***h. Lotsa people with their fangs dripping around here.

No church ever hurt me. I simply put t***h before fiction. There is a god and I commune with my god, and that's called Spirituality. All that stuff that goes on in buildings with stained glass windows is called Religion, and I have no use for it, with doctrine or with dogma. I have no use for belief. Everything can be known, it's only the lazy who suck up beliefs instead. Does it make sense to you that an omnipresent god would be unable to manifest it's presence? Churches are the worst places to find god. If you really want to be in the presence of god, do what Jesus told you to do. Lock the door of your room behind you and then seek god. Alone.
There is a god. Not male or female, a presence that radiates unconditional love. If you want to be in this presence you have to be willing to give god your worst problem, to hand it over and never touch it again, and trust god to take care of it. If you do this with full earnestness, it will all happen for you. You can't expect god to be there when there's no need but only when there is.

As for Bill Maher, he disgusts me. He knowingly lies and slanders strictly for the ratings, for money. He's a whore.

Well I see we have common views on a few things. That's a start. Our beliefs in God are quite different. But I don't hold the corner on knowledge.

I base my beliefs on the Bible. If someone, say a preacher or a radio, t.v. evangelist teaches something that is contrary to the Bible I chuck him. If you ever have access to a guy named Ravi Zacharis I would beg you to listen to him.

He is a Christian apologist, I'm sure you know that that means he defends the Christian faith. He is from India but the man is a fountain of knowledge.
Who knows perhaps we can become friends.

As for religion, I've never cared what people believed in when it came to friendship, and I never ask. It doesn't matter. If having a certain religious affiliation is a requirement for friendship, then I don't want anything to do with that friendship.

Christianity is no more "the only faith" than Islam, Hindu, Judaism or any other, though all will tell you they are the only true faith. I've heard a lot of preachers carry on and none of them speak for god. For that matter, god never speaks. There is no word of god. There are only people who claim to know the word of god and thereby gain power over the gullible.

Tell you what. If there is a word of god, send me a CD of it, or something written by god. But better yet, experience the presence of god for yourself and then you'll know what I'm talking about, and that will end any argument before it starts.

When I referred to the ridiculousness of Bible stories like Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt, I was told by a Christian here that "You do know that those are only parables?"

Well, so is the Noah story. If it's true, then the many millions of species existing today all evolved since then because only a tiny percentage could have fit on that floating barge. That means that evolution is a fact and Creationism is crap. And away we go.

All religion is superstition. That's a fact. It's all based on belief of spirits and demons and being still alive after you aren't alive anymore. You can't get around that. That's how it is. Calling it "faith" doesn't make it real, faith and belief are the same word here.

The reason we have religions is because they allow a small part of the population to not only have some control over all the others, but those controllers make a fine living while getting away with all manner of things. Like the Catholic priesthood that's provided a safe harbor for homosexuals for centuries while protecting them as they prey on children. Like the Islamic mullahs and imams who literally hold the power of life and death over the people with all their religious laws, while they live and eat well and molest boys and girls with impunity.

Spirituality is communing directly with wh**ever sort of god you believe in. Religion is worshiping, singing, paying the priests and preachers for their continuing efforts to keep you brainwashed, and religion has zero to do with spirituality.

Jesus said that when you pray, to go into your room, lock the door and pray in private. What does that tell you about what Jesus thought of religion? Mathew 6 - 6, by the way.
