The so-called morality test for liberals and conservatives, Part IV

"It can never be right to k**l a human being."
I agree, but it will be at times, hopefully rare, when it is necessary, but I should never take it as right. Capital punishment is, to me, as wrong as a******n: sanctity of life should be paramont for us to remain not only a just and Civilized nation but one that exults the right to life for all its citizens to make us a humane community.

"Justice is the most important requirement for a society."
If so, we have never had a society. Justice is nothing without wisdom and compassion, sacrifice and courage. Real justice requires all those qualities and is something other without them.
"If I were a soldier and disagreed with my commanding officer's orders, I would obey anyway because that is my duty."
"I'm not the best one to charge that machine gun nest, sarge, got a little arthritis in my knee." "KP? Me? Do you know who I am?" "Gas these innocent people? No!" "Use enhanced interrogation techniques on these prisoners? No!"
"People should not do things that are d********g, even if no one is harmed."
Too weird to take seriously, as indicated above.

"Respect for authority is something all children need to learn."
Who is the authority and what are they doing to or teaching these children? Respect for authority is not, again, an absolute virtue. For you conservatives, do you want this for your kids in public schools? For you liberals, do you want this for your kids in "Creationist class"?
We are to raise our children to be discerning. Deference, I feel, is automatic for adults and those charged with a child's care...unless respect is not given to the child. Giving confidence to a child to recognize harm or abuse by authorities comes from how we treat them and make it plain why we do so.

"I think it's morally wrong that rich children inherit a lot of money while poor children inherit nothing."
That such a ridiculous question as this made it to the test tells me it is not a lapse of judgment or just an accident; some may actually answer yes. Therapy may eventually help such a person yet I feel that this situation may be reversed answers it in the negative.

"It is more important to be a team player than to express oneself."
A real team works with how players express themselves individually or it is badly coached and poorly organized. This should never be an either/or question except in a very sick and authoritarian atmosphere.
