Church bells still ring, calling the faithful to worship, but where are they? Some churches are full, some have actually folded, their 'flock' may have passed away, moved away, or just moved on. Once we were a strong Christian Nation, when you read today's statistics are you sad, upset, or do you even care? Christians are dying in the Middle East, would you be ready to die for your faith? These are cold, hard questions, but make no mistake, that choice may face you sooner rather than later.

Why am I being moved to dark prayers, when I am strong in my conviction of the Lord Jesus Christ. You read this prayer because you also care for the Lord. You have a heart for Jesus. Then, what has happened to us? Why are such questions about our belief in God coming to the fore? Satan has been busy from day one here and everywhere. He is the one who, upon unsuspecting subjects, caused division with denominations, watered down their faith, brought about scandals. These stand-by ploys work well - divide and conquer.

In my heart, I say it is never too late, not as long as I have breath. It is time to stand up and preach, time to once again, like folks of old, stand on the street corner with a sign proclaiming "Jesus is coming." Are you ready for the fight, are you ready to convince the apathetic crowd who just warm a Sunday morning seat? Kindle that fire in your heart, and join in, you may be surprised by how many agree with you. Lord, we ask that You create a force within us to fight for You. We pray in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This is the prayer from 8/10/15

The waxing crescent of the moon appeared bright in the dark of morning. A wispy cloud flowed out ahead of it, as though its purpose was to pull it along to reach its next phase. The sky held a sprinkling of stars, but it appeared only the brightest are gleaming at this early morning hour. The sky made a velvety backdrop to enhance the lights that were there. The stillness of the hour only added to the beauty of the scene.

How pleasing to the soul, when we are able to take the time to appreciate the visions that the Lord lays out before us. A busy day lies ahead, take the time to enjoy a relaxing moment, a moment of serenity. In this fast paced day to day living, those moments can be rare. Some, who live in big cities, have to make a special effort to find an occasion for solitude, to sink into a reverie of quiet beauty.

Lord, we thank You for each day, for the moments of beauty, enjoyment, and relaxation. We thank You for our health, our home, and our family. We look to You to lead us through this day, to keep us safe, and to bless our nation. We worship You, and offer You all praise, honor, and glory, forgive us our sins of commission and omission. We pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This is the prayer from 8/11/15

This morning, clouds hid the moon and all the stars, but as I sat there a tiny glimmer caught my eye - sure enough, the clouds moved on just enough for a 'Cheshire Cat' grin size moon to appear. Yesterday, it gleamed a bright ivory color, this morning it was very creamy, almost yellow. Our lives go through similar phases, like the moon. When we are 'new moons,' waxing through our youth, we are bright, intent on becoming full, to shine on our own. We push forward on our journey.

Like scud clouds that swiftly pass over, the years quickly slip by. Age begins to catch us and, like the moon, we begin to wane. We remain bright, and full of life in our first phases of waning, but slowly, with the passing of years our light begins dim. There will be moments when our light seems to take on new luster, just as a waning moon will do. Those moments are appreciated, though they seem to be so fleeting, and far apart. We treasure those moments all the more when we take the time to reflect on our past.

Always, the Lord is there, ready to help us, encourage us, and lead us onward. He had a purpose for each of us, it was laid out like the set paths of the moon, with some variation. Sometimes, our freewill causes us to slip out of the 'orbit' He had hoped for us. When that happens, we struggle, but He is ready to help us find our way back. We have to turn to Him and ask for His help. Remember Moses had to do his part, then the Lord assisted, and that's how it goes with us as well. When we pick ourselves up to do our part, He does assist with the miraculous part.

Thank You Lord, for always being there, for loving us particularly if we should become confused and off path. We pray that You be with us this day, Lord. In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This is the prayer from 8/12/15

How do you destroy a nation? That was an essay test question, in a class that an acquaintance had in the 1970's. She believed in Christ, yet raised a Jew. Just as Daniel saw the writing on the wall, she could see the answer this liberal instructor was going for. Her answer, 'destroy their faith system.' Not only was she the only one to get an A, but she was the only one who did not have her paper returned to her. Is it working? Polls show that the majority of Americans still have religious affiliations.....but!

Even with all the various denominations, a conquer and divide device, destroying the faith of a nation has been a slow, but effective process. Now, the government has injected itself in our grade schools. They know that when they capture the minds' of the very young, that the next generation will believe in and look to the government. How do we combat that? Ugly questions, but questions for this day and age. Are you teaching your children, or are you letting the government?

Our prayer for today should be from Joshua 24:15 ....."But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." It is from our Lord all good things come, and we thank You, Lord, and praise Your holy name. We ask that You be with us today, protect us and lead our steps. Hold our thoughts of praise and honor for You alone. Thank You, that You have blessed us with the knowledge of You, and that You are in our hearts. Keep us close, we pray in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This prayer is from 8/13/15

The sun comes up, and we rise up out of our warm, comfortable beds. We stretch, and yawn, ready to step out to a new day. We take our coffee out on the deck, and notice the morning chill, yet the days are still so warm. Change is coming! It seems each day goes by faster, yet we are moving slower - change! The end of the year is fast approaching, where did the time go? What does the future hold for us? More change!

Our future life is like a present that has been wrapped with fancy paper, and placed under the Christmas tree. When we get to open it, what will we find? What have we received? There are conditions that come with this gift, you have to believe, believe what Jesus said, "I am the Way, the t***h and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." It's so easy for some to accept that at face value, but for others - it's change.

What will we find when we move on from our earthly existence, move to our life in heaven? There will be beauty that will dazzle our eyes, music that will stir our hearts, and a love that will fill our souls. Our earthly imagination cannot begin to fathom the luxurious existence that heaven holds. As sure as Christmas is coming, so He is coming, He will return. Be prepared, be ready for that day of change.

We ask, dear Jesus, that You prepare our hearts room for You, make us ready for the change. This we pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This is the prayer from 8/14/15

When I sit on the deck and a gentle breeze caresses my cheek, I believe it is the Lord's hand gently touching me. It makes me smile, and I feel a sense of comfort, He is near! What makes you smile, and feel His presence in your life? Should a butterfly float by, and land on your shoulder, do you smile and return its greeting? Are you thrilled when you see a doe turn to encourage her fawn to follow her, or two rabbits romping back and forth? Simple pleasures of animal life in harmony with nature.

How do we slow our fast paced life and bring it into harmony with nature? We need the Lord to take control over our life, our thoughts, our actions. We may find more time with Him, when we turn off our electronic devices, and spend time in communication . It's time to be in our Bible, to put forth an effort to gain a deeper reverence for His Word. We need You, Lord! Dear Lord, we ask that You come into our hearts, calm our nerves, heal our bodies, and take our minds to a higher level of understanding of You.

We pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This is the prayer from 8/15/15

Animals have very sensitive ears, far off in the distance, and long before I could hear it, Bear heard the rumble of this morning's approaching storm. He knows I'm not afraid, so he wants me awake to be able to reassure him all is well, then he remains calm. He used to shiver and pant, but no more, not as long as I'm near. It makes me smile, even male animals have to be 'macho' for their female companion (Bear feels he is my protector). As the storm gathers overhead, the lightning and thunder becomes closer and moves in a rhythmic harmony.

Electrical storms are the Lord's 'light shows' in the sky. The power and magnitude of the lightning should be respected, but also appreciated for its alluring beauty and the majestic rolling rumble of the thunder that moves across the sky. All the earth respects it, as the earth trembles with the resonance, following the sound. That is power, that is exciting! Our God is all Power and totally Exciting, give to Him all your love, your heart, and soul, and He will give to You His blessings. Praise the Lord! Amen

This is the prayer from 8/16/15

This is the day of the Lord, the day to enter your place of worship and give praise to our glorious God, and Father. The Lord of all the universe, it is His, for He brought it all into being. In the heavens He placed the sun, moon, and stars, for light and our delight. He caused the clouds that lazily drift along, some are wispy and they dart across the blue expanse, while others slowly move as they build into billowing towers high into the heavens. He made the lightning and thunder that causes the earth to quiver, and He brings upon the earth rain to fill the oceans and water all the land. Oh praise His majesty, yes, praise Him!

Upon the earth He made all good things as well. Yes, He did make the weeds, as a reminder of Adams sin, for He told him, "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19) He also gave us the ability to succeed at accomplishing so much. If we can think of it, He blesses us to eventually develop it. Keep your thoughts of Him lofty, praise Him often, use your talents to His glory, for then He will bless the work of your hands. He wants you to find satisfaction and joy in daily activities, and especially with your companions.

This is the day of the Lord, He has blessed you with His Word, and with His Son who has bought salvation for you. Always rejoice in this priceless gift, the gift of a future life with Him in glory. Just imagine, we are made in His image and we will judge the angels. 1 Corinthians 6:3 "Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!" We are His children, He looks forward to all our contact with Him, and our appreciation of Him and His gifts. Oh praise the Lord for He is good, and His mercy endureth forever. We pray in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

This is the prayer from 8/18/15

Reason is a basis or cause, as for some belief, action, fact, event; normal or sound powers of mind. Reason is a part of our intelligence, a gift from God. How we use any gift depends upon the receiver, and their motives, and whether or not they do believe it is a gift. When it appears the world is spinning out of control, maybe it is time to leave 'normal or sound powers of the mind' behind, and lift yourself to a higher level of comprehension, a more altruistic view of what's good for others, our military men have done that in every war.

Do you ever question the reason why you were born, what makes you who you are, or what is my purpose in life? Many of us will never fully realize our purpose, and each day as we move closer to the end we wonder what have we accomplished? I believe we have purpose, and with every contact we make we leave an impression. Hopefully, somewhere along the way that impression may have encouraged someone to be more than what they thought they could be. Maybe, words you said, stuck in someone's head to lead them to Jesus.

Jesus is the Way, the T***h the Life, the Light unto our feet to lead us to the Father. He waits patiently for us to stumble through the maze this world lays out before us, all the distractions and glittering lights that can appear so attractive. Children are easily distracted, and sadly lead astray, but by His blood we can be forgiven. Make no mistake, there is penalty for sin, what it will be, and how it will be administered, is up to the Father. Think about all your sins being read in public for everyone to hear. We do not know Your mind, dear Father, we simply walk in faith with hope in our Savior.

We pray for mercy and forgiveness in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
