Todays In-Home Care Services

I have been going into peoples homes and giving care for them for quite some time now. This is the Disabled, Handicapped, Various Dementias, and Elderly, to keep them in their own home environment for as long as possible. I have a long line of Professional, licensed, background experience to give good care and observations, as well as pour my heart and soul into my work. These are precious individuals that need help. However, I have encountered some pretty grievous situations:

Families fighting over the Parents estate, in front of the ill Parent.

Gross sores and cellulitis on Dementia Person left to fester because it was the employee who caused it.

Theft.

Gross unsanitary home with fecal matter caked and splattered, where both Conservator and Financial Appointee knew of and left- hoping someone else would take care of it, unawaringly.

Family(s) using Handicapped individuals finances to better their 'own' lives or living situations.

Bad Kitchen habits where Food Poisoning is a high risk.

and on, and on, I've seen a lot of stuff. I thought it was bad working in the ER, but some of the stuff I see now is ignorance just wanting a job.

What if these were your Parent(s), Handicapped family member, or vulnerable Elderly person?

In my family, NONE of this would ever happen. We took care of our parents and when they couldn't take care of themselves alone, we took them in. Nothing like this could happen. We simply would not let it................

You know when you are handicapped or disabled, it is a major task just to get up and move about. Trying to keep a place spick and span, is a major campaign. I wish there were more caring people around to help those that cannot help themselves. But a lot of these services cost too much for someone on a limited income like SS. Just paying the utility bills wipes out any thought of help or adventure. Not to discount the medical costs that are probably not really necessary, but who knows, You stop that, and you get worse, so it is darned if you do, and darned if you don't.

Bless all the people willing to go into some of these places, and do their best to make a miserable life just a little better. Old people are usually looked upon as PITA's and everyone wishes they would just fade away. But then again, why don't the kids take care of them. What ever happened to love and compassion?

Thank you so much Larry. I run out of gas emotionally at times, and after a few tears I remind myself why I chose one-on-one until I retire.

35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (to my care)
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (in prisoned within their bodies, within their infirmities)
(Naked actually means in their sin, and being clothed in Salvation. But still fits this type of work)
Matthew 25.
