kankune, They show KKK, and n**i signs. To me thats a fair piece of evidence. Lee was considered a t*****r in his own time, why not now?He wasn't a southern general, he was a confederate general, and a former officer of the US army. He did more than give aid and comfort to a domestic enemy, he led an army against the American f**g, and was responsible for thousands of deaths of American servicemen. Tearing down Lee's statue isn't erasing US history, it's correcting it. The only place confederate icons like Lee should be seen, is in history books, calendars and maybe Civil War battlefields.
kankune, They show KKK, and n**i signs. To me that... (show quote)

I disagree with you on this one Salty buddy... history is history & should be preserved as a reminder ... lee was part of America good or bad...

The Civil War was certainly not just about s***ery. Many fought for the Confederacy who did not sanction s***ery but thought the Norths economic policies would strangle them.

I refuse! General Lee was a piece of s**t in my humble opinion! Take it or leave it

I'm sure he was....Im a northern girl. I have no sentiment for him whatsoever. But, I also think history should be protected whether good or bad. Fact is it's history. You can not remake or pretend it didn't happen.

Should the portraits of Bill Clinton be taken down because he was a serial abuser of women? Where does this end?

S***ery wasn't even part of the equation until 1863 with Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, which was 2 years after the start of the War Between The States.

It comes from radio amateur days when hams used to communicate usuing Morse code and having a good fist meant you could manipulate the key swiftly. Abbreviations abounded and 4Q was used in arguments, for shorthand and to avoid FCC problems.

Just a question on this. They're calling the protesters w***e s*********t or white nationalists. If this is the case, then why are they protesting the removal of the Robert E Lee statue? He was a southern general. So I'm not sure why they are calling them that. I believe they are protesting the fact that an important part of our history is going to be removed. How do we learn if we do not have history to learn from.

Any takers on this question? If your only coming on this thread to call names. Please stay home. Thx for your consideration.....

Why are the Alt-right protesting the removal of the statue of Robert E Lee--because it is a symbol of Right-wing nationalism. What I would like to know is what relevant history we are learning from a statue in a park? Did Germany lose any of their history because there are no statues of Hitler and his N**i cronies in their parks? Perhaps we should stop looking for history in our parks and start looking for it in our books...
