saltwind 78: If you have a really good scientific mind, would you do me a favor when you have time. Watch a YT video by Rob Skiba on the Flat Earth. I blew it off at first, but the more I listen, the more convinced I become he's right. I'll eventually make up my own mind but would love to hear your opinion. peewee

Welcome aboard! I've always thought talking to God was the same as praying. I'm sure He enjoys hearing from you, even if you are not asking for something.

I am not quite that new, I came here to help Trump on campaign as I thought this a very important forum. I could not actively campaign as I live in Boston, MA and there was no campaign headquarters set up in that tired old blue state. I used the internet, twitter, 30 articles or tweets a day, limited FB as I was a democrat, left that party after Obama served 6 months. Now, democrat relatives threw tantrums on FB because of my position. Democrats are whiners, sore losers. However, I am tolerant, open minded. I am a registered nurse from Salem state College of Nursing, I majored in biology as well. I got RN degree as a mid life career change. I have a BS degree from Suffolk Univ in psychology. I love animals and work as a volunteer lobbyist. I love art, painting, photography. I am tolerant but I am old fashioned in my ideology. i am a conservative and I am a Christian. I talk to God - more than pray to Him every single day.
Currently, I still work because I have to work to help with health insurance. It is too expensive for me. We need it, as we never know what can happen. I see it everyday. I am in twitter if you want to follow me and I will do same. s.s.lark@louiedadawg is my name and hashtag.

Somehow, I have never taken to Twitter, but I will look into it now since you recommend it. Thank you!
I do like this site. I am on Care2 Political Derby as well. That is my no 1 site, good friends there, they come from all over, including London, England.

Manning, Glad to have you aboard. You certainly are a thoughtful person, and I look forward to exchanging ideas with you.

Writing about one's self is not the most fun one can have, but here goes. My name is Mann, and I am of advanced age, born in 1930, which makes me over 86 today. I have had a fruitful 43-year career in military systems engineering for several large defense contractors. I retired in 2000 and began my quest to define and write down my worldview in as simple terms as possible. After an outline that took 10 pages, and a draft that took 169 pages, I have begun to revise the whole mess, which involves a lot of reading, and a lot of rethinking. There have been a few signposts along the way that have steered me in the direction of Christianity. The first one was Natural Law/Rights/Duties. The concept of natural Law led me to Thomas, and a number of other Natural Law adherents such as George, Finnis, and several others. They in turn led me to trace the concepts back to what is perhaps their Biblical origins (or even earlier), that of Agape, the Decalogue, and the Golden Rule. Viewed as a system, the conception of Thomas made sense to me, but in the end, posed the ultimate question: should I place my faith in an unseen Trinitarian God? This I have done. Do I have doubts? Yes! I have sought out the proofs of God's existence, including the five set forth by Thomas, one by Anselm, and a few other tries. but none of these logic forays seem to hit the mark for me. Thus it seems logical to say that to become a Christian, I needed to make a great leap of faith and embrace that which the religious proponents offer. So I am working on it still...

Manning, I think its very hard to balance faith with scientific understanding. I have managed to do so, but I had to go beyond my religion, and look at God in a different way. We need to take a closer look, and take into account the new knowledge we have since the 1950s. We now know that the universe is a much, much larger place than we first thought. There may be an unlimited number of universes. To me, that means that God is far more powerful than we first gave him credit for being. The third testament will be about physics, and how God used it to create reality.

You got that right! Missler seems to be on the right track, though, and I appreciate his depth of understanding of the physical universe versus God. A long time ago, I rejected evolution, and put my belief in God as the Creator, The First Cause, and the Architect of the Universe. I also have faith that God is still looking after us. I do have a hard time accepting the modern notion that there are multiple universes, a la Roger Penrose, and a hard time understanding Hawking's self-generating universe concept, but then my math capability is now somewhat limited!
