Military Funeral Honors For Vets
Most Did Nothing Heroic

. . . According to the programs website, it is funded by the federal government and the Missouri National Guard Trust Fund.
Both the federal government and the state government are broke. So why are we providing military funeral honors for all veterans? It is a nice gesture we cant afford.
Certainly, men and women k**led in combat deserve full military honors. Its a way for the country to say, We honor the memory of those who died in our service. These military honors and the thought behind them are intended to provide some solace for the families of the fallen.
But what about the guy who spends a couple of years in the military and then gets on with his life? Bear in mind that most veterans did nothing heroic. They served, and thats laudable, but it hardly seems necessary to provide them all with military honors after they have died. In fact, it seems generous enough to provide veterans and their spouses with free space and headstones at a national cemetery.
Why not let the veterans organizations provide military honors at the funerals of their members? If a person gets out of the Marine Corps and wants to stay connected, he can join the Marine Corps League. Im sure the 101st Airborne has an association. In a more general vein, we have the American Legion and the VFW.
Providing military honor funerals for their members would be a boon to these organizations. Membership would presumably climb, and veterans who want the military funerals could still get them.
Everybody knows government needs to cut costs.
This is exactly how you do it.

This is so stupid, cutting costs would be the obozo and his family stopping all the vacations they take every year,
cutting back on the staff at the WH which is more than all other presidents combined, same with czars for Obama.
If he knew what he was doing, he wouldn't need 36 "advisors" and most of them aren't qualified for the jobs they hold!
Cutting costs would be doing like Ryan Paul has done for the past two years in giving back ONE MILLION DOLLARS from his Senate budget by cutting costs where ever he can!
Cutting costs is having all of Congress take commercial flights instead of gov jets back to their home states...Pelosi comes to mind here. Cutting costs would be stopping all aid to i******s so they'll go back home instead of getting a free handout from our gov.
Cutting costs would be getting rid of the Dept of Ed, Dept of Energy and some of the other equally useless departments the feds have come up with and let the states take care of their own needs, which they are doing anyhow!!
Cutting costs would be getting rid of the "standby" employees in the fed gov who are getting paid to do no work, but we have them on standby in case they are needed!
Cutting costs would be getting rid of the federal employees who don't show up for work every day instead taking a day off, but don't use vacation or sick leave yet they are still paid and are still on the payroll.
Cutting costs would be to pare down the contractors who charge big bucks to the federal government and have so many employees that a lot of them can stand around and talk for several hours a day instead of doing their jobs (I saw this happen overseas!)
Cutting costs would be to stop i******s filing income tax and claiming 30 dependents, most of whom are in Mexico and not provide any legal documentation like American citizens have to do yet get back billions (4 Billion it cost year before last). One illegal got nearly $30K for 30 "kids" and most of them probably don't even exist, yet the IRS will go after an American citizen for owing $100!!! This government is way too big, but OUR MILITARY DESERVE A HUGE RAISE AND A DECENT BURIAL. AT LEAST THEY SERVE AND AREN'T RIPPING OFF OUR COUNTRY!!!!

Stop flying Air Force One unless it is neccessary, curb O'Bama kids vacations. That is several million there. If you are in charge you should set an example. Just some common sense!
