rules change in 2015..

As the impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump uncovers more and more evidence of possible wrongdoing, House Republicans have increasingly focused their argument on complaining about the process.

Earlier this month, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy demanded inquiry proceedings be stopped unless the minority got the power to subpoena witnesses. On Wednesday, Minority Whip Steve Scalise, and others even likened the secure, closed-door investigation into sensitive foreign policy matters to something out of the Soviet Union. That same day, a group of angry House Republicans barged into the secure facility and effectively halted hearings for several hours, complaining about transparency.

But if they find the process unfair, they have only themselves to blame. The House rules that govern this process were adopted in 2015, by the then-Republican majority. And the same Republican leaders leading this criticism helped establish those majority-centric rules at that time.

But while minority-party members once had significant say in who was subpoenaed, a major 2015 rule change rammed through by the Republican majority stripped them of this power. The majority leader at that time was McCarthy himself.

On Wednesday, Scalise took part in a press conference organized by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to demand that the secure hearings be more "transparent."

Obviously any actual impeachment vote would be done in public, should the majority decide to charge him with "high crimes and misdemeanors." Under the Constitution, that would trigger a trial in the GOP-controlled Senate, where a two-thirds super-majority would be required to remove Trump from office.

But the House rules, which McCarthy and Scalise helped enact, also allow this fact-finding portion of the impeachment inquiry to be done in private, by the relevant committees. Indeed many of the House Republicans protesting the lack of "transparency" of the secure hearings are allowed to attend them and have been participating.

On Thursday, Fox News' senior judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano surprised his colleagues by noting that he had actually read the House rules and discovered that the Democrats were following them.

"As frustrating as it may be to have these hearings going on behind closed doors, the hearings over which Congressman [Adam] Schiff [D-CA] is presiding, they are consistent with the rules," he noted.

I guess you don't understand that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presides over the senate version of the impeachment inquiry. That will make it more fair than the House inquiry. The intelligence committee were consistent with the rules the Dems of that committee set not consistent, as to how other impeachment hearings have been run with fairness for both sides.

I have just one question for you. If this same type of evidence had been brought before a legal court, would they have found all evidence, or any of the evidence, to be proof enough for a conviction of any crime. Now be perfectly honest with your opinion, are there any actual facts where other words haven't been entered into the words of Trump said in the phone call.

The fact is, when Trump refuses to cooperate he may as well be pleading guilty and the prosecution knows this.

So you can make up whatever excuses you want... it doesn't change the fact that if you have nothing to hide, there's no reason not to cooperate.

Like Hillary did? What a laugh. Hillary removed emails that had been subpoenaed ow that is a crime by any definition of the law. But the Justice Dept. and the FBI refused to bring charges and that should have been criminal in its self. The reason to not cooperate is simply Trump and his lawyers would have been hampered in interviewing the witness's of the prosecution and having their own witness's testify on behalf of the President just like the Schiff impeachment inquiry was conducted. I guess the blind and baseless accusations from the Dems falls short of an impeachment offence. When reading the transcript of the phone call it seems the Dems put their own spin on the words actually used and used me for we and my country, for our country and Trumps benefit instead for the benefit of the country. Just the usual spin they always seem to put other words in the mouths of the Republicans and their conservative supporters. Why should anyone want to cooperate with such an illegal type of court which is just another kangaroo court.

"Children in cages", you just won't let that go even since Obama started that situation and then the Dems in the House failed to bring a bill to Congress to stope the illegal influx of people from south American across our borders. As for North Korea, Trump had high expectations about them to change their ways but they continue to keep doing what they want and want the U. S. to remove sanctions when Trump said they would have to get rid of their nuclear programs and weapons testing. You seem to lie about almost everything you post. There has no aid been held up for Puerto Rico. The aid was misused by those politicians of Puerto Rico to enrich their friends and them selves. Most of those 21% of children living in poverty are in the Democratic controlled cities and states where they have held control of those areas for decades. None of hos put in prison are there because of Trumps crimes. Such lies you continue to tell. The only stain left on this nation is the stain of the Democratic human waste they continue to push forward about Trump.

Muslim lawmaker accused of swiping half a million dollars from charity

Previously lashed out at Christian prayer, now facing counts of theft, perjury, tampering

A state lawmaker whose claim to fame has been that she was enraged by a Christian who prayed to open a legislative session now has bigger issues to address.

Theft, perjury and tampering charges.

The Blaze reported she's been charged with stealing half a million dollars from a charity.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced Johnson-Harrell's case stems from her activities with the Motivations Education & Consultation Associates, which was set up by the lawmaker to get donations to help the homeless, seniors and children.

Instead, she allegedly spent it on "vacations, designer clothing, luxury car payments, real estate purchases, past-due mortgage payments, and other personal expenses."

WND reported she was among those who reacted with outrage when a Christian minister prayed to Jesus.

State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz thanked Jesus, "the King of Kings; the Lord of lords; the great I Am; the One who’s coming back again; the One who came, died and rose again on the third day," PennLive.com reported.

Johnson-Harrell was joined by Democratic House Minority Whip Jordan Harris of Philadelphia, who accused Borowicz of weaponizing her religion to "intimidate, demean and degrade" Johnson-Harrell.

Harris said, "There is no room in our Capitol building for actions such as this, and it’s incredibly disappointing that today’s opening prayer was so divisive."

Johnson-Harrell called the prayer "highly offensive to me, my guests, and other members of the House."

"It blatantly represented the Islamophobia that exists among some leaders -- leaders that are supposed to represent the people," Johnson-Harrell said in a statement. "I came to the Capitol to help build bipartisanship and collaborations regardless of race or religion to enhance the quality of life for everyone in the Commonwealth."

The Blaze reported Shapiro said the lawmaker turned herself in, confessed to the crimes and agreed to leave the Pennsylvania Legislature.

"Her theft knew no bounds," he said.

Trump isn't scared of being charged with any crime since he hasn't committed any crime while in office or by his tax records. It there had been a problem with his tax records, you can be sure the IRS would have caught any problem by now. Just your and many others wishful thinking. You really need to get a lif and think about your own life and those of your family in the season of joy and thankfulness for all of ones blessings. The only mess Trump is in, is this quagmire of a situation the Dems have brought upon him and this country.

Schiff is hiding his involvement with the whistle blower and then stated he should have been more clear. what he really meant he shouldn't have lied to the American public. As for good ole Nancy, she states we have to do this impeachment now. What I believe when she said that, and I am no mind reader I only believe in past actions. She is being pushed into this fiasco of an impeachment, you can see it in her face. It seems drawn and has nervous twitches when speaking of this impeachment or of the President. Many of those on the left have so much hate of Trump, they fail to realize that there are many more things out there in our country to be proud of, instead of focusing on false accusation's about Trump. They really need to get a life and enjoy the merriment of this season and the joy of just being alive to live for another day. I try to do that every day. Sometimes I have to get away from the computer and this site, to realize there are many things to be thankful for every day in our lives. I try to live for more than one day at a time. This is a blessed season for all to enjoy, no matter what faith they believe in.

What rules did the Republicans vote to approve in 2015? As for your next statement, the President wouldn't be allowed to have their witness's in front of the committee. The next thing not being legal in the letter of the law, the committee chairman had the right to have the witness's refuse to answer questions poised by the Republican committee members. Those scholars you speak of, all have shown their disdain for this President many times in the past. So that makes them highly partisan. Then that female, so-called scholar made the remark about the Presidents son. That was uncalled, for but only showed her disdain for the President and his family. When it goes before the Senate the one that will have the ultimate decision of whether the President has committed a crime and should be impeached is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the U. S.. He hasn't shown much partisanship toward the Republicans. But if he doesn't go along with your hatred of the President you will say, "the President is still guilty and you will never believe he wasn't guilty. Of course the just goes along with all of the progressives two faced accusation's. If a Dem President had said the same words when talking to another countries head of state you wouldn't have thought another second about it. You would have passed it off as just another example of the great things your president had done.

That is the problem with most progressives, is they put their thoughts into those of the Presidents and his supporters. They put words in place of those actually said by the President to align with their false beliefs. As for cheating, what does it seem to be that the Dems are doing now. They seek to overturn an election by the people and try to remove the President by any means by hook or crook. They were wanting him impeached even before he was elected. That is how far down this illegal path these Dems have gone. No truth produced of any crime by Trump only supposition's and false allegations. Then the Judiciary committee only bring in three radical Dems to try to prevaricate what they believe to be the truth. Only one liberal Constitutional scholar told the committee the truth about what was Constitutional and this impeachment wasn't even close to being Constitutional. How crooked a path the Dems have woven.
