Right now there seems to be some misinformation regarding the weapon and ownership of such a weapon.
People report that they think it is illegal for anyone to privately own a fully automatic rifle, and that such rifle is speculated to being a modified AK-47.
ANYONE with a Class 3 FFA license can own a fully automatic rifle in the USA. I personally own more than a dozen.
The AK-47 fully automatic fires at a much slower rate then what the rifle being used at this shooting. Listening to how fast the cycle rate of the rifle being used in this shooting, a better guess until the information is really released, the rifle was either an UZI Submachine Gun, MP5, or AR-15.
