44% are children. To put it another, more heartbreaking way, 17.6 million children need SNAP assistance every month.
21% are elderly or disabled people
22% are non-elderly, non-disabled people with children
13% are non-elderly, non-disabled people

17.6 million children "in the land of the free and the home of the brave," "the city on a hill," the world's most prosperous nation, need--need!--government assistance to survive. Limit or cut this program is not the America I imagined. Those kids are not Reagan's "welfare queens" or "young bucks" : they look nothing like the images the Right always conjures when looking to cut assistance. Neither are the 21% elderly and disabled who are also affected by these cuts that the Right portray those on welfare as "bottom-feeders" and "shiftless."

Proud Republican is right, Rummi, The 22% are welfare queens, and the 44% are their kids. These are inner-city women who make a living off of making babies with different baby daddies. More babies means more money. Welfare was never meant to be a career option, but it has become a career for those skilled at milking the system. The current unemployment rate is 3.8 percent, which represents full employment. Most of the people unemployed are short-term unemployed, moving between jobs. Fully half of the jobs in the economy require no more than a high school education. Jobs are available for the welfare queens, but liberal policy lets them skate. It's time to tell them to get a job or the government will find one for them.

Check it out now, rumitoid. Go to any Welfare office and you will see a difference. It's MUCH harder now to get food stamps. You now have to prove why you can't hold a job. Trump's plans don't take long to filter down to the public.. He means business.

I know there are people getting assistance that are milking the system, not unlike Scott Pruitt or Zinke or Mnuchin or many other Swamp Things. The financial crisis of 2008 turned a lot of hard-working and decent people lives upside down. Do not think the profound effect of that is over for many Americans. Welfare Queens are there, at about 2% on the rolls. They are not representative of welfare recipients. Children, the elderly, and disabled are. Let me hear one Republican cite them as a need for cutting back welfare.

Last time I checked, well before Trump's election, I believe a person needed a job to receive SNAP benefits. Republicans get upset about SNAP benefits, but don't say much about the Earned Income Tax Credit which is essentially a means of keeping businesses from needing to raise wages.

I see signs up for employment all over the place now. McDonald's, Burger King, restaurants, construction jobs. There is no excuse for anyone not to be working instead of sitting at home and being indoctrinated in marxism by whoop ass goldberg and joyless behar. I'm sure if anyone called up Le Bonehead James, Steve Curry, or Johnny boy Legend, and told them you hated Trump they would put you on their payroll. Then again these social justice warriors may tell you to continue to sit at home and keep being indoctrinated like all good dems should be.

How about the millions of wetbacks who use fraudulent ID and documents to obtain benefits meant for US citizens? How about the wetbacks who sneak across the border with an already pregnant wife, girlfriend or rent-a-puta to have an "anchor baby" on US soil, (a practice which flies in the face of two SCOTUS decisions?)
I had to get food stamps myself for a short time while recovering from a couple of major surgeries. I was surprised when I went to the office and found over half the applicants couldn't speak English.
Anchor babies are a legal fiction. In two cases the SCOTUS has ruled that children of illegals are NOT birth citizens of the US except in very narrow circumstances. It is a symptom of our broken immigration system that illegals and people here on fraudulent asylum claims can obtain benefits meant for US citizens and lawful residents of this country. If our resources were infinite, it might be different. As it is, they are not, and unscrupulous wetbacks game the system to steal benefits for which they have no eligibility.

You should re-check. "Able-bodied" adults are limited as to the amount of time they can receive Food Stamps, but they can get them. They can get them anyway if they have children. This is how so many illegals game the system with fraudulent ID's.

You love to quote scripture. How about this one that I'm sure applies for the parent of those 17.6 million children who are THEIR responsibility (notice I didn't say parents):

For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. 2 Thessalonians 3:10
