Verse of the Day for Tuesday, May 22, 2018:

You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. — Galatians 5:13

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

Freedom is a wonderful gift when it is handled with responsibility. Not being under law is such a sweet grace, but we want to pass that sweetness on to each other through service, kindness, and care.

My Prayer...

O Great God of Deliverance, thank you for rescuing Israel from Pharaoh's grasp, David from the sword of Goliath, and Daniel from the lion's den. But O Great Deliverer, thank you most of all for the triumph of Jesus over sin at Calvary and his victory over death at the empty tomb. I long to see you face to face and thank you for my freedom. Until that day, guide me as I use this gift of liberation to serve you children and live for you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day for Wednesday, May 23, 2018:

Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. — Romans 15:2

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

Being depressed and dissatisfied with life can be caused by a myriad of things. But for many of us, these are symptoms that we have focused too much on ourselves and are angry with life. We have forgotten to count our blessings, neglected giving thanks to God, become silent in our praise to our Father, and have quit helping those around us. Thinking of others is how Christ lived. When we follow his example, ours actions make a difference in the lives of those we bless and we also find ourselves immensely blessed as well. Let's get our focus off ourselves and look to bless our neighbors!

My Prayer...

Holy and Matchless God, help me see the brokenness, hurt, and difficulties in the lives around me. Please use me to bless others who so desperately need to experience your love and grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day for Thursday, May 24, 2018:

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. — Romans 12:10

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

Being "devoted to another in brotherly love" requires that our church talk — we're family, brothers and sisters, children of God — must be more than mere words. We must enter each others lives, getting to know one another so that we can serve, love and bless each other. What have you done lately to get more involved in the lives of your fellow Christians? Devotion to others follows a commitment to know and be known by them!

My Prayer...

Father, thank you for giving me a world wide family. Thank you for loving me so completely. Father I ask that you help me be more open with myself and my time to those in your family. Give me a heart that burns to bless and be blessed by those you have made your children. Through my brother Jesus I pray. Amen.

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. — James 1:19

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

Have a brake on your tongue; hit the throttle on your ears. Let your angry email sit three days before responding and make sure you read it and edit it before you send it. Keep your mouth shut and your ears open. They all say the same thing. Now if we would just do it, wouldn't the Christian community be so much more blessed!

My Prayer...

Mighty and Holy God, you are incredible — beyond my comprehending. How you put up with all the drivel, senseless and hurtful speech that I and your other children spew out is beyond my understanding. I ask that you release the Holy Spirit to convict my heart and guard my lips from any form of hurtful speech. I want my voice to be as much yours as my heart is. This I pray through Jesus. Amen.

Memorial Day and Reflections of Hope

Friday, May 25, 2018

Over the Memorial Day weekend, many will have the opportunity to spend time with friends and family on several occasions. As we come together, we should thank the Lord for those who gave their lives that we might be free. We should also recognize that the world in which we live, that the nation where we are citizens, is far different from what it was even 30 years ago. We as a nation have fast accelerated into a humanistic mindset where not much that is time honored or traditional is celebrated. The young men who I coached in football always were fascinated by some of our old timer stories about participating in Memorial Day parades when we were kids, ending at the local cemetery.

There, the graves of who served in the military were decorated with wreaths or flags, followed by a sermon and prayer for our nation and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Local Memorial Day services nowadays are often not well publicized. We may not know about them. What we do know about are the freedoms we have lost in the past generation--freedoms that were taken away not by some foreign force, but by the government itself. As we view the Bill of Rights through the headlines, we see that the government--those who we elected--are working to undermine these rights that were held by the Founders as "self evident" endowed by our "Creator" with a capital "C," meaning God Almighty.

My son Christian and I often discuss these things. He says that "progressives" (that's what they are politely called in his college classes) care little about the history of our nation because they believe that mankind is always progressing beyond the past. He says they fail to recognize the mistakes made in history and the knowledge and wisdom that comes from learning about those mistakes. That, he says, is what makes them prone to making unwise and bad decisions. He says that they see the Word of God as fable and reject the foundational principles of God's law and the law of nature's God. It is his generation's way of explaining why our nation is in the mess that it is in.

He believes there is hope in his generation, although he admits that Christian values are diminishing within it. I believe there is hope, too. The Bible says a lot about hope. One of my favorites is Romans 5:1-5, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us." Don't let anyone steal your hope, your faith, or your will to stand on them.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Verse of the Day for Saturday, May 26, 2018:

God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. — John 3:17

Thoughts on Today's Verse....

How do you view God? Is he someone looking for a way to condemn you? Is he an out of touch old man who doesn't really know what it's like in our modern world? Is he too holy to soil himself with the concerns of mere mortals and has left it up to us to work everything out for ourselves? No. NO. NO! God chose to enter our world and experience it from the side of mortality. God chose to enter our world, not to condemn us, or it, but to redeem it and each of us. Jesus is the great reminder that God longs to save us, not condemn us. Thank God for God! Thank God for Jesus who was and is God with us.

My Prayer...

Holy and Heavenly God, thank you that you live with those of us who are contrite and repentant and who long for your presence. You know we are only mortal, but you love us. You know that we are flawed, but you redeemed us. You know that we are not perfect, but sent Jesus as the perfect sacrifice to save us. Thank you. Through my Savior I offer my sincerest gratitude and praise. Amen.

Oh how sad this country has become.
Caving to the leftist/progressives at every turn.

This is an eye-opening article by Lloyd Marcus - the self-proclaimed "Black Unhyphenated American".

They’ve Blown Up The Boy Scouts – What Next?
May 26, 2018 by Lloyd Marcus

Minutes after awakening this morning, my wife Mary read me this disturbing headline from her phone, “Condoms Required at Scouts’ 24th World Jamboree”. My mind immediately went back years ago to when LGBTQ activists demanded that the Boy Scouts of America accept openly homosexual leaders. LGBTQ activists claimed homosexuals did not intend to change the scouts. They simply wanted to be included. I remember a deceived parent on Facebook saying if the Boy Scouts did not surrender to permitting openly gay scout masters she would remove her son from the intolerant, bigoted hate group.

Mary read out loud from the article that outrageously, the rules demand that condoms be distributed to the under-age kids during the 12 day camping event. My thoughts went to the movie “Planet of the Apes” at the end when Charleston Heston’s character said, “You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you…damn you all to hell!”

In 1910, Lord Robert Baden-Powell founded the Boys Scouts Association. In his book, “Scouting for Boys”, Baden-Powell stated his purpose for the organization.

“We aim for the practice of Christianity in their everyday life and dealings, and not merely the profession of theology on Sundays…”

All these years later, wimpy spineless officials and administrators have allowed political correctness and LGBTQ activists to blow up Baden-Powell’s vision; corrupting yet another once great Christian organization. Yes, I am extremely angry.

All who sounded the alarm that allowing promoters of homosexuality into the Christian based organization would change the Boy Scouts were branded paranoid haters. Meanwhile, LGBTQ activists have forced the Boy Scouts to change the original Scout Oath.

“On my honor, I will do my best. To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.”

What awesome and upright principles. Imagine how wonderful our country would be if more men lived by this creed. LGBTQ activists have intimidated the Scouts into removing “morally straight” from the Scout Oath.

LGBTQ activists have forced Baden-Powell’s organization to drop “boy” from its name and admit girls in 2019.

Will someone please tell me what was hateful or mean about boy scouts and girl scouts having separate organizations? Do y’all know LGBTQ activists seek to erase the gender line between male and female? Public school teachers are forced to address elementary students as “eagles” rather than boys and girls.

Folks, I am so sick of mainstream people in power cowering to LGBTQ activists. When will someone have the courage to tell these people no? I vow to slap the next Christian who tells me we need to be more passive and loving. I’m kidding. But look where passivity has gotten us.

SOGI laws (Sexual Orientation Gender Identity) mandate that LGBTQ lessons be implemented in every grade (pre-K thru 12) and every subject. Math questions begin with two guys enter a gay bar. In public schools, LGBTQ lessons include BDSM, anal sex, asphyxiation, gender-bending and rimming. Does this sound as insane to you as it does to me? And yet, this vile brainwashing and robbery of our kids’ innocence continues unabated beneath the national radar.

Whitney Houston was correct when she sang, “I believe the children are our future.” If we keep allowing leftists to confiscate our children, game over. Our future as a great nation is lost.

Years ago, LGBTQ activists beat the crap out of me in the media for asking this question. Rather than forcing the Boys Scouts to abandon its Christian roots, why wouldn’t homosexuals start their own youth organization? What is stopping pedophiles who run NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) from starting a scouting program? LGBTQ activists branded me a hater for asking this logical question.

The truth is LGBTQ activists are on a mission to destroy Christian institutions; to force Christians to “approve” their lifestyle. LGBTQ activists seek to force Christians to betray Jesus by kneeling in worship to their false god of depravity. Leftists are working to create a godless America in which anything goes sexually. Everywhere you turn you can see evidence of leftists’ removing traditional Godly principles and values which have made America great. It sickens me whenever I see politicians and people in power caving to LGBTQ activists’ demands.

In 1962, we caved to leftists’ demand to remove prayer from public schools. Schools have progressively transformed from institutions of discipline and learning to hellholes of violence, daycare for parents in middle school, drug abuse, disrespect for authority and students graduating unable to read their dilemmas. Meanwhile, we keep allowing leftists to have their way.

What great Christian institution, traditional value or principle will LGBTQ/leftists target next for destruction?

The good news is I am seeing signs of more Americans pushing back against LGBTQ/leftists bullying.

Oh how I long to see the spirit of John Wayne reborn in an American leader with true grit. Oh wait, we have that in Donald Trump. Still, America needs more leaders with backbone to tell LGBTQ/leftists no.

Lloyd Marcus, The Unhyphenated American

Are people just so engulfed with their own lives and problems that they are becoming blind to what is truly happening to our country?

It's getting so pathetic and immoral that it's just being accepted as change in society....and the sheople are being trained by their handlers to believe it's just normal for these times.

They will eventually find out how wrong they were.

Truly a sorry picture what was white is now black and what was black is now white. What was a sin is now considered to be a moral choice and what was once moral and good is now considered to be something other than good. Sodomy is now good by the left and heterosexuality is to be prudish and out of step with society. Thank God that I grew up in the old days. You are taking teens with their hormones raging and you are going to go on a campout with females whose hormones and curiosity are are raging as well. Now you are going to give them condoms which in all intent gives the green light for these kids to go all the way and experiment and try things while not being in a marriage relationship what could possibly go wrong here folks.
