Ironic that the article compares Food Price Increases as compared to Wages while Our Government doesn't include Food Prices in regards to Inflation because they're too erratic... That said, if you think raising Wages will help "equal out" the rise in Food Prices, you're mistaken...

Have no idea what you're talking about or what relevance it has to the subject at hand.

Two simple steps in any order:

1. Shop at DOLLAR TREE
2. Get a JOB.

You'll be fine.

Or for some of us, because the minimum wage has gone up and food prices have skyrocketed, start going to less expensive restaurants and learn how to cook at home. :-)

In the not so recent past most full time employees received decent benefits, job security and a pension in old age. Perhaps fighting to get those things back for the American worker rather than being envious of those who have maintained a middle class standard of living is what we should strive for.

You are a damn fool and don't know shit from shine ola. Teachers are just like Government employes...They retire on their Pensions, then work 2 or 3 years pay into S S then collect it also...Teachers are under worked and overpaid. IN my County School taxes are outrages.More than property tax, and no tax cut for 65 and older. The school board came up with the great idea to have school 4 days a week to save money. ONLY people that had their salaries cut were bus drivers, and hourly personnel...Now Teachers only work 4 days per week instead of 5. Taxes for this crap sucks....I have paid more in school taxes in the past 25 years than I Gave for my land.

Maybe you can explain how you linked a shortage of water in California to the not so extinct Snail Darter minnow, found only in Tennessee waters.

Food, gasoline/diesel/ heating costs by any source, electric bills, property taxes while home values fall and the list goes on and on .. while ecomony is stagnant .. force us to pay more for less until they bankrupt us... but all the taxes go up and we are forced to pay for outrageous teachers salaries and benefits to shut their mega power unions up and the same with any government worker from the street crews to the office personnel at all levels of government. Don't get me started.

Not sure where you are located but in my neck of the woods, the average teacher makes considerably less than the average auto-worker even though most teachers have masters degrees while the average auto-worker has either a high school diploma or GED. And while I'm sure there are plenty of state workers who don't earn their salaries, most don't receive anywhere near what the few top people are paid (who you hear about on the news wasting even more of our money on trips, etc) and honestly, most make barely livable wages (just basing that on the few I know).

The EPA caused massive job losses in the TVA area during the Carter Administration, "saving the snail darter." It has absolutely nothing to do with the thread, but neither does saying Obama is responsible. I thought the :Spotted Owl Helper" was funny, I added my two cents worth. Did I offend your sense of propriety? You don't appear to have a sense of humor to offend. Anyway, the thread is "Food prices skyrocketing." Eat some endangered species.

The EPA declared this bait fish as endangered in California because they were getting caught up in the water pumps used to feed the irrigation on farms throughout the Central Valley in California. Victor David Hanson has written extensively on the subject -

Poor management, no more like greedy unions, poor workmanship and management whom didn't care. Sadly the last American car we owned was 1995.

It seems the "Snail Darter" link actually comes from a 1978 ruling affecting Tennessee & the ruling allows a State's Governor to
"... request intervention from the Department of Interior. Under a provision added to the Endangered Species Act in 1978 after the snail darter fiasco, a panel of seven cabinet officials known as a "God Squad" is able to intercede in economic emergencies, such as the one now parching California farmers."
