Hey straightup, did you get your prayer rugs from the government or prison system yet? I have never heard of the government or prison system passing out crosses. A little favoritism to the "religion of war", islam perhaps???

[quote=straightUp]Just when I didn't think the Trump Administration could get any more childish... Now they are subjecting the doctors and scientists involved with the Center for Disease Control to a list of forbidden words. Yes, that's right, these are words the CDC is not allowed to use in their reports. Here they are...

1. vulnerable
2. entitlement
3. diversity
4. transgender
5. fetus
6. evidence-based
7. science-based

OK, Trump supporters... I can't wait to hear your excuses for this one. Do the morons in the White House actually think forbidding the use of these words will impede the ability of much smarter people to communicate their concerns to the public?

I can communicate around those words easily...

The Trump Administration is making efforts to suppress recognition of our multi-cultural heritage [diversity] and the freedom of identity, especially when it involves sex reassignment [transgender]. Evidently, they don't want to hear about how exposed the impoverished are [vulnerable] to the exploitation he encourages. They apparently want us all to forget the safety nets and securities [entitlements] that Americans fought hard for when trying to make America a better place for people to live. I would also seem they don't want us to think about the handouts [entitlements] that his tax policy lavishes on the elite. It looks like they don't want medical professionals to address any of the potential dangers to an unhatched or unborn, post-embryonic vertebrate [fetus] either and of course any recommendations based on scientific research [science-based] or any judgement based on empirical evidence [evidence-based] is discouraged.

Thing is... if enough of us had the ability to think this would be laughable. But the sad truth is too many of us can't think, or don't think because we're too busy being led by emotional outrage, fear and loathing. I was thinking about this when I got to the end of the article and saw the comments, one of which made the point of reminding us that the Nazis did the same thing.... Here's what it said...

The German Nazis called it "Gleichschaltung"— meaning "Coordination"—the policy of massive repression by which government agencies and personnel, professional societies, the press, cultural and societal institutions, and citizens were coerced into conforming to Nazi ideology. As a totalitarian measure its design was to silence all who opposed the Nazi regime as well as all whom the Nazi regime opposed.

Censorship was a key strategy behind this transition to fascism and like the current censorship of the Drumpf Administration, the words are not obscenities used to insult or repulse, they are words that are used in professional lexicons to effectively communicate. Clearly, this is not a measure taken for the sake of decency but a measure taken to advance Gleichschaltung in America.

Other than the words themself, is it different from BO banning the use of and not being allowed to utter the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism’ in anything or negro, and oriental from being used in federal law??? Supposedly under the guise of updating terms??

Censorship of Presidents?? Is it no wonder nothing gets done when we prioritize censorship over country ???

This was done in 2010~~Congress also moved to censor the word retarded~~The bill changes the terms from “mental retardation” to “intellectual disability” and “mentally retarded individual” to “individual with an intellectual disability.” This shift would make it more consistent with the language already used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United Nations, and the White House..(.it was outdated and stigmatizing.)~~ I agree..

Banned books, banned music and banned words~~ wonder when they are going to try and ban freedom of speech altogether???

Gleichschaltung!

I take the meaning of this particular phrase to mean; Make America White Again,
Civilized Again, Harmonious Again, Law & Order
Again, Advanced Again, Actually Maintaining The Original Constitution Again, Making our public school's, safe places of Learning Again,
Respect for our Police Officer's & Military Again,
Making America "PARASITIC FREE" Again, Respeccting our Nat.'l Anthum Again, Respecting our Flag Again, Restoring Patriotism
Again, Maintaining our original language, custom's, Religion, Moral's, History, & Heritage!
By today's "PC" Propaganda, I guess
that makes me a Racist!?

Saying that I must have some idea what's going on in our schools is pretty vague. I wouldn't call it an argument or even point. But since I remember what you were ranting about earlier I figure I'd make an exception and look at one of the links... The first one..

Well, two paragraphs in and I already see disconnects. First of all, Princeton isn't a public school, it's a private school. Secondly, the elimination of the word "man" is something that the HR department specifically is imposing on themselves, not anyone else.

So it's exactly the same as going to restaurant for a burger and screaming at some chick for ordering a salad because you think that means YOU have to order a salad. Just order the burger and stop worrying about the choices other people make for themselves. I personally wouldn't take the word "man" out of my lexicon for the sake of being more "gender inclusive" but I'm not going to freak out if someone else decides to. It's a free country right?

Are you censoring how Blade decides to present his posts in this free country??

Use a link to prove something, if not it’s not valid?? What’s up with that??
That is your preference, not even a requirement of OPP...

If your not going to get upset because someone else decides to stop using a word why are you ticked at Trump for requiring the omission of certain words not felt that properly define or are
at best misleading??

Like you I do not think anyone should be able to censor our writings etc but as we see right in here OPP can require us to do certain things when posting or have our post deleted or be thrown out.. That too is censorship but guess what, it’s their cite and they can do as they please..

Why is it you Christians have to portray yourselves as such martyrs. If you want to pray in school then arrange to pray in school but do so as Muslims did and in the privacy of their own room. Otherwise pray to yourselves and just hope your god can hear you. If he can't then I hate to break it to you but he isn't much of a god and perhaps you should invent another one...

Actually Palin didn’t have anything to do with banning the word retard..

Rosa’s Law passed in the Senate in August 2010,and now heads to President Barack Obama’s desk. The bill was proposed by Senator Barbara Mikulski, a Democrat from Maryland.

Rosa Marcellino is a girl from Edgewater, Maryland, who has Down syndrome. She had been labeled retarded by her school — a term that her mother does not permit her children to use....

Nah. Trump wants it. In the same way all references to climate change have been scrubbed from the EPA website, and all references to LGBTQs have been scrubbed from the HHS site. A cloud of ignorance and darkness has fallen over Trump's government pronouncements.

If you live a Christian life, all day every day is a prayer. Your work, done to the best of your ailities, is an homage to the God who gave you that capability. Your home life, where you bring up a family and teach them to adhere to the precepts of God is a prayer. Doing what is right as well as good, at all times, is a form of prayer.

Christians do have rooms set aside for prayerful communing with our God, they are called chapels and churches, but brick and mortar is not a requirement nor is the direction I am facing. Specific prayers addressing our Diety can be done at any time a Christian's attention, to what he is doing, is not required for saftey.

Sneering at Christians is the forte of the Godless and ignorant. Be content with your scorn but we Christians have a better goal.

I just ran this list by my wife who teaches high school English and the only word's banned are "retarded" (that thanks to Palin and her retard) and tranny, and raghead. This isn't Liberal academics that banned these but any words used to denigrate others have always been banned from academics. To denigrate others students need to come to a political message board or listen to conservative radio--either of which will suffice...

Sometimes it's hard to tell with these folks, if they actually understand the difference between banning words to obstruct hate speech and banning words to obstruct the flow of critical information or if they intentionally ignore that context.

I'll tell ya one thing I know from first hand experience though, right here on this site. It's the conservatives that get all worked up when I use offensive words, not liberals. The admins have actually removed a post because I used the word "stupid" It wasn't even a direct insult, I was describing an idea not a person. The other poster I was responding to denied the suggestion that he reported me, but it's hard to believe that the admin would just happen to see that I used the word "stupid" and removed the post.

These people can be pretty weaselly when it comes to double-standards. They make such a big deal out of politically-correct censorship acting like liberals are some great obstruction to free-speech, but every legislative effort toward censorship that I have EVER encountered is pushed from the right, not the left.

...and this isn't surprising. The right-wing is always focused on exclusion. The left wing, always focused on inclusion. You can find this pattern anywhere in the world. ISIS in the middle-east for instance is focused on excluding all cultures but their own. They are a right-wing culture, with all the typical motives, such as the appeal to God, the claim to land and the unchecked use of guns. The American right of course confesses an intolerance toward ISIS but that isn't surprising either... If you had ten groups that can't tolerate each other they would all be right-wing advocates of exclusion. So "left/right" isn't so much a matter of "sides" as is it a contrast in the "approach to others".

Hitler, as always, provides a great example... One of the reasons he hated Jews so much is because of their association with communists, which he saw as a major reason for the German defeat in WW1. He saw the communists in Germany associating with the communists in Russia, which he felt compromised the German front against Russia. So while the leftist communists were chanting "workers of the world unite" nationalist Hitler was calling that a violation of national integrity and of course this led to the Gleichschaltung... a right-wing effort to exclude all but one culture.

Getting back to banning words... if the left has a problem with specific words, you can be assured the concern is over the some form of offending or excluding "others". I would say that any form of censorship designed to obstruct the flow of ideas and even facts are intended to exclude "foreign" perspectives and are therefore the exclusive domain of the right.
