And of course, the usual assortment of gunnuts and deniers will justify the necessity of guns everywhere, even when the the gun owner makes himself the victim

Would it be presumptuous of me to presume you'd never be shot dead in any Church?

DJRich, Last year some far right nazi threatened to enter my synagouge and kill worshipers. Since then, the Rabi has asked congregants that have a CWP to bring it to services. We also have hired an armed security guard. I now bring my semi auto pistol to services. The Rabbi and his wife also come armed, having been in the Israeli self defense force. I have to tell you it freaks me out to bring an instrument of death to a place of peace, but it's still better than being shot by some murdering nazi!

While I wouldn't compare those hate crazed nuts today who call themselves Nazi's to the German Nazi's, I agree that there is an undeniable antisemitism movement in the West, apart from Islam, that I don't pretend to understand or tolerate. I personally stand with my Jewish brethren when they say, "Never Again!" It is meet and right for synagogues to have armed security amongst their congregation to protect the innocent faithful. I need not remind you that all anyone who doubts the existence of God needs to do is study the history of the Jews.

I am not disagreeing with you regarding the need for security at places of worship, however this article simply points out the unintended consequences of more and more guns being carried in public places

And more would have been murdered in Texas had it not been for an NRA member grabbing his weapon and running barefooted and shooting the maniac twice forcing him to flee.

Hey, DJ, it was an 80 year old man, he made a mistake, had an accident, shit happens. No need for you to go all hyperbolic over an accident. Ain't the first time somebody screwed up and hurt themselves and it won't be the last. I suppose the real reason you got your panties in a twist over this is because a gun was involved. What if the old fella had been showing off a pair of scissors and poked his wife's eye out?

And, FYI, as far as I know, and I know quite a ways, no gun owner has ever advocated "the necessity of guns everywhere."

There are many among us, such as yourself, who shouldn't even look at a picture of a gun much less get near one.

However, it is much better to have a gun and not need it than to not have one if you ever do.

DJ:

It also points out that ALL CCP holders should be required to have continuous training on any weapon they
expect to carry.

This person did not observe the FIRST rule of gun safety: a gun is ALWAYS loaded. He did not clear the chamber
after removing the magazine.

Not a good idea to blame thousands for the stupid action of one.

No, that's what happens when guns are not safely handled.

So typical, a rightwinger who supports "age discrimination"

However, not everyone has ever applied or received a "permit", so likely does not get the training you mentioned.

And with the daily reports of shootings, either intentional or accidental, your second point is made

And that means that the blame can spread over "thousands" who may be stupid, but they have the right to be stupid, and to have a gun or guns.

DJ:

ALL states require a background check (NICS).

You are putting the stupid label on a whole group of people without any investigation.

That is like saying all Scots are cheap, etc.

You would never mention the number times a CCP holder has prevented serious crime.
