Contrary to reports that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had sent teams a memo expressing the league’s requirement that players would be required to stand for the national anthem, there has been a sudden about face.

In what continues to morph into a racially motivated battle against the President of the United States and Obama era dead-enders who seem to have the misguided perception that the nation’s first black POTUs had a lifelong term, the NFL is set on doubling-down divisiveness even at the expense of its future financial viability.

In the latest development, the NFLPA which has consistently fought on behalf of drunks, dopers, domestic abusers, roid ragers and other miscreants has been invited to a summit on how to best accommodate the anti-American sentiments of the kneelers.

CBS Sports is reporting “NFL, NFLPA statement: ‘No change in the current policy regarding the anthem'”:

President Donald Trump is not getting his wish — at least not yet. In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the NFL and NFL Players Association revealed that the league has not enacted a rule that would require players to stand for the national anthem.

Here is their statement:

“Commissioner Roger Goodell reached out to NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith today and both he and player leadership will attend the League meetings next week. There has been no change in the current policy regarding the anthem. The agenda will be a continuation of how to make progress on the important social issues that players have vocalized. Everyone who is part of our NFL community has a tremendous respect for our country, our flag, our anthem and our military, and we are coming together to deal with these issues in a civil and constructive way.”
That statement came a day after NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart stated that the league’s owners will likely discuss a rule change that would require players to stand for the national anthem. In recent weeks, Trump has pushed for the league to enact a new rule to prevent players from protesting during the national anthem.

Players on several teams have been sitting/kneeling during the anthem to protest racial injustice — a movement that began with then-49ers quarterback and current free agent Colin Kaepernick last season — though the protest has shifted in recent weeks to a show of unity after Trump’s inflammatory comments.

To those who were hoping that the politicization of the NFL was finally going to be dealt with, this reversal should let fans who value patriotic values know once and for all that as long as Roger Goodell is running things that they can go straight to hell.

To Goodell – a blowhard and bully used to deference – this has become personal and rather than appear to appease Trump, he will burn the entire league to the ground rather than lose face.

To any who may have been reconsidering their boycotts, this latest betrayal should make them consider making them permanent, as in turn off this crap for life.

Already done. I will never watch another game. I will not buy their products. Not even video games, as they get a cut on every sale. Total boycott.

Now is the time to look at financially hitting the league. No more tax write offs for football stadiums, etc. I'm not an accountant, but I'm sure there are many ways we can demand that Congress hurt them for disrespecting our country.

Coerced compliance, is that what Trump supporters realy want? Is your allegiance to the flag or what it stands for? If it is the latter you can’t possibly want to take away peoples right to honor the flag as they see fit.

They are not disrespecting the country, they are working to make it just for all. They may however be disrespecting the Orange Buffoon, which is all this hoopla is really about anyway.

Hey Kevie, do you not realize that people watch sports for entertainment, and relaxation, and don't want politics involved? It's not about whether or not those poor, oppressed millionaires have the right to protest at all. Time, and place.

entertainment by its nature is political, singing the national anthem at sporting events is in it self political. I wonder how many people would notice if they went to a ball game and they did not play the anthem. Many people are buying hot dogs and beer or relieving themselves during the anthem to avoid missing the kickoff and no one insists beer sales stop and the rest rooms are locked.

It's the NATIONAL ANTHEM that they choose to disrespect. That would be the American national anthem, in case you did't know, not the POTUS anthem, Police anthem or Patriotic American anthem... Well, it is in also the Patriotic American anthem..

They are entitled to hate America, just like you are. They are not entitled to disrespect America in a company uniform on company time, and if you get a job, you probably won't be either.

Thease gentlemen do not hate America, they are making a small jesture to bring attention to an ongoing injustice. Taking a knee and bowing their heads is not showing disrespect, in fact it is how many people worship.
