Introduction:
Most Bible prophecy teachers believe that the yet–to-be fulfilled prophesied wars of Isaiah 17 dealing with the destruction of Damascus, the war of Psalm 83 and the war of Gog and Magog are separate events, because the nations involved are different.

I agree that what I’m going to present to you now can’t be cast in stone, but I have compelling and surprising evidence that is going to change the way many have looked at these wars before. What I’ve done for your benefit, is gone back to all the verses including the parallel verses and studied them afresh, including word studies.
I am not presenting this as “new exclusive revelation”. It is food for contemplation. If you want to keep to the regular view...well and good.

We are all going to find out very soon anyway! A major purpose of this edition is to motivate you to get ready in heart and knowledge and be ready.

Did you know that the gematria of the words “Gog and Magog” in Hebrew have the numerical value of 70? Did you know that the Torah speaks of 70 nations making up the world after the destruction of Babylon? Did you know that 70 nations are meeting in France on January 15th over the issue of ownership of Jerusalem and peace in the Middle East?

Did you know that the number 70 in the Bible means perfect spiritual order, but also means judgment and captivity, being associated with it in numerous places?

Good luck France – you are going to need it...you’re about to run headlong into the fury of God!
Can these three wars be the same event?

The Bible often makes reference to one event by different authors in different books of the Bible. It’s like newsmen at an event. They see the same thing, but from different perspectives.

What if these three wars are one and the same, just seen differently by the different authors?
If these three wars are the same, it gives us a clear idea of when it will happen. It also sheds some new light on which nations will be involved. It also shows us just how close we are.

Why have the three wars been seen as separate events?

Psalm 83: This war has been traditionally seen as a separate event occurring some time before the fall of Damascus and the Magog war. The reason cited is that the nations of the Psalm 83 war are not found in the other wars.
The nations mentioned in the Psalm 83 war are: Edom and the Ishmaelites. The people of Moab, Ammon, Philistia, Tyre and Assyria. In modern terms, these are the nations of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and an inclusive reference to the Palestinians, which by extension would be Hamas, Hezbollah and others.

Some of these will also be in the war of Gog and Magog, but Ezekiel extends it much further:
Ezekiel 38:6 (Magog) “...and many nations with you.” Verse 9: “...you and your troops and many nations with you.”
The Damascus war also includes many other nations:
Isaiah 17:12 “Woe to the multitude of many people who make a noise like the roar of the seas, and to the rushing of nations, that make a noise like the rushing of many waters.”

My point is, we can’t be totally dogmatic on the nations involved in these wars. The revealed nations are the major players, but as we have seen, they all include a great mixture of other nations.
You can’t eliminate nations, because they are not mentioned by name, when they may be implied in the general “many nations”.
Some teach that the Psalm 83 war was fulfilled in the “War of Independence” in 1948. You can apply some of it to that war, but when studying the passage, you see it is still in the future. This war ends this way: Psalm 83:16-18 “Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name O Lord...that men may know that You, whose name alone is Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.”

This implies that many of the participating Arab nations will seek the Lord and be found by Him at the end. This is a parallel with Isaiah 19:25, where many Arab nations get saved.

The participants of the Damascus war:
Let’s have a look at one of the parallel verses to Isaiah 17, which is the main chapter on the Damascus war. Amos 1:5-17 sheds additional light on this war.

Amos 1:5 “I will break the gate of Damascus and cut off the inhabitants from the valley of Aven and the one who holds the sceptre from Beth Eden. The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir, says the Lord.” Verses 7-8: “I will send fire on the wall of Gaza. The remnant of the Philistines (modern day Palestinians) shall perish, says the Lords.” Verse 13 “For the transgressions of Ammon (Palestinians today) I will not turn away its punishment...because they tried to enlarge their territory.”

So the Bible says that Syria will go captive to Kir. There are two possibilities for “Kir” One is a small outpost in Jordan and the other is a larger area in Iran with its city called Kerman.
If Syria is to go captive to Kir, it is very likely that it is Iran. Today, Iran, Syrian, Russia and all of these surrounding nations are in play.

So when the Damascus war comes to its bitter end, Amos places Iran as the final captor.
This means that the Damascus war could be part of the great Magog war, because Iran (Persia) is very much part of it.

If this is the case it also means that the entire inclusive conflict will begin before the tribulation begins or just into it, due to the seven-year clean up period. (See further down)

Ammon is in Jordan, but by extension includes many of the Palestinian people.
Some of these nations are also present in the war of Magog. Bear in mind that the Bible doesn’t have to name every nation. A huge horde of nations are implied in the term “And many nations with them.”

Bear in mind that the Damascus war has to place it at the end of these wars, because it is “never to rise again”. It can’t be destroyed, never to rise again, and then rise again to participate in either Psalm 83 or Magog.

The causes of the three wars, collectively called WW111:
War 1: Psalm 83:4 “Let us cut them off (Israel) from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”
Psalm 83: 12 “Let us seize for our own use these pasture lands of God.”
War 2: Isaiah 17:14 (Damascus) “This is the portion (destruction) of those who plunder us and the lot of those who rob us.”
War 3: Ezekiel 38:12 “You will come to take plunder, to take booty (spoil)...to take livestock and goods. Verse 13: “To take silver and gold.”

So, now we see similarities between the causes of all three wars.
As we all well know, Israel is in the firing line now. It is greatly despised by many nations, but why? The Bible calls it an “ancient hatred.”

Israel is rich with economic abundance as well as being the bread-basket of the world in many respects. Israel has turned the desert into a fertile field! (Isaiah 35:1-2)

Most of Israel’s surrounding nations are in abject poverty especially as far as agriculture goes. They would love to get their hands on this abundance.

But there is a greater cause for the wars.

Ezekiel 35:5-6 “Because you (Arabs / Palestinians) have an ancient hatred, and have shed the blood of the children of Israel by the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, when their iniquity came to an end. Therefore, as I live, says the Lord God, I will prepare you for blood and blood will pursue you...”

Please note the timing of this ancient hatred. It manifests during the time of Israel’s “calamity” and when their “iniquity comes to an end.” This is in the tribulation period, but may begin beforehand. Either way it’s not hard to see that it is now or close to it.

We can easily understand the first revealed cause of WW111, which is to take over the economic wealth and agricultural abundance of Israel. But the second cause, which is to destroy Israel, is a bit more involved. It stems from the Arab / Palestinian / mass-media’s “ancient hatred.”

This hatred for the Jews includes resistance to their God-given covenant ownership of all of the land of Israel. The so-called “occupation” and the so-called “settlements” are the fuse that will set WW111 ablaze.
You see, a nation can’t just go in and claim the spoils of produce, economic wealth and agriculture without a good reason. The lie of the occupation is the very smoke-screen reason!

The poverty of attacking Arab nations is also a reason. They may have oil wealth, but that’s the end of it. Russia is also pretty close to economic collapse and most certainly, food poverty.

Nothing is new! It’s the “eternal Arab hatred” and jealousy for God’s blessing on the Jews. It’s the hatred for God’s choice. It’s the conflict of the ages between God and Satan. It’s the satanic empowerment of the mass-media. It’s because the Jewish Messiah will soon come to Jewish Jerusalem! It’s because so many of the riches of the world, including the Bible came to us through the Jews.

This everlasting and ancient hatred must be seen in light of the contraposition of the everlasting and ancient covenants and promises of God to the Jews and their land and Jerusalem.
The mystery of the seven-year clean-up:

The Great war of Gog and Magog contains a mysterious seven-year clean up after the war.
Ezekiel 39:9 “Those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons...and they will make fires with them for seven years.”

Here we are told that the clean up after the war will take seven years. The weapons are burnt, implying that there may have been some sort of contamination or residue upon them. The point is that the seven-year clean-up would not likely extend into the Millennium. In other words the war does not take place at the end of the tribulation period as many believe, but right at the beginning.
The war could and most probably will occur just before the tribulation begins. This would also “allow” the other two wars to be part of it.

Bear in mind that the clean-up takes seven years not the war. The war itself may be very short in duration.
This war could in fact be the subject or part of the subject of the Daniel 9:27 peace agreement. "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

I agree that there are many characteristics of this war that appear to indicate that it is a tribulation period war. It may end up being so, but I doubt it because of this seven-year clean-up.

This war is found in Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39. Bear in mind that in the original there are no chapter headings or division. This means that the war comes right after Ezekiel 37. This chapter is referred to as the “dry bones” chapter, in which the Jewish people begin to come to life spiritually. It is also when they are restored to their land and the “tabernacle” (temple) is set up.

The Jews are beginning to come to life spiritually right now. Yes there is a way to go, but these things can and will happen quickly. The Jews are back in their land and have been since 1948. Again the 2nd Exodus is far from complete, but it is on the go now. We still await the Temple, but that also could happen quickly and is already all over the Israeli media.

So it looks like many ducks are in a row already!

And what of Donald Trump?

In previous editions, I’ve said that the US may be indicated in the prophecy of Ezekiel 38:13. It speaks of nations called Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish and the young lions, implying that they are allies of Israel in this conflict, coming against those coming to “take plunder”.

“Sheba” is Saudi Arabia today, “Dedan” is Yemen and the “merchants of Tarshish” were people from Spain who traded fabrics and other products with what is today Britain. The lion is the symbol of Britain, so the “young lions” would be the commonwealth nations, including the USA.

There are already many signs of softening relations between Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Israel. This also implies that Donald Trump is walking onto the stage as an ally of Israel just at the right time!
Don’t go overboard on these identifications, but they are most certainly food for thought, and a bit more than speculation.

So who is the aggressor?

The media keeps telling the ignorant and uniformed, that it’s all the fault of the Jews and they are the aggressors. But the Bible reveals the opposite.

Joel 3:19 “Egypt shall be a desolation and Edom a desolate wilderness, because of violence against the people of Judah, for they have shed innocent blood in their land.”

The verse above is most important. It identifies Egypt, which is still the same today, but also “Edom” which is present day Jordan. It is also the root of many of the Palestinians today. So we can say that it refers to the Palestinian Arabs. The verse says that they (Palestinians) have shed innocent blood (Jews) in the land of Israel.
Psalm 137:7 “Remember O Lord against the sons of Edom, (Arabs / Palestinians) the day of Jerusalem, who said, ‘raze it, raze it, to its very foundations.’”

The Palestinian people today can trace their identity back to the people of Ishmael, those of the “house of Esau”, those of Edom, Ammon, and those of the Amalek peoples.

Bear in mind that there is no actual real Palestinian people. They came from numerous Arab nations, including Egypt. There never was a Palestinian state called Palestine with its own flag, national identity, language, currency and all the other things that constitute a nation state.

When the land of Israel was briefly called “Palestine” it was under the British mandate and Jewish ownership.
This is the year of WW111. It is also the year of world war against the truth.

The world has become numb and immune to the shocking scenes of daily destruction in the cities of Syria. It seems that very little will shake the world out of their comfort zones and complacency. But beware! The Lord will begin to shake everything that can be shaken very soon. Hebrews 12:26, "Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven."

Prophecy watchers need to be full of the knowledge of God’s word and always ready for our Lord to reveal new things or aspects of prophecy as they unfold.
