The idea of "entitlement" carries with it for many a perjorative definition: "scammers," "bottom-feeders," and "Welfare queens"

Is this true? Yes, of course it is. Improper welfare payments, including fraud, are estimated to be 10.1% of all federal welfare payments made and totaled $71.5 billion in fiscal year 2016. This is outrageous. Something has to be done. Trump has done it. His budget punishes 100% of those of those on these programs, by reducing life-sustaining money and cutting programs that will leave our fellow Americans hungry and desperate, most of those children, the elderly, and disabled. Nearly 90% have a legitimate need. So this question arises: is this "creeping socialism" or common decency to provide such programs. Put another way, are Americans entitled to eat? If we change "entitled" to "right" in polls, most agree. Is it socialism or a good democratic government--and the democratic government is for, by, and of the people, not something else--to feed and provide necessary health care for its citizens?

All previous governments were not "of the people." In the Us of A, the people are the government. Caring for this "government" is caring for the nation. Nothing is more important. The government is you and me and not the three branches we learn in history. Considering Draconian cuts to the "government" is an affront to our Republic and an attack on our basic ideals and principles.

Recently, a GOP Congressman refused to answer if Americans are entitled to eat. Where is his confusion or doubt? Roughly 43 million low-income Americans receive SNAP benefits, which are vouchers to buy food. Enrollment has dropped significantly since 2014 due to improvement in the economy. Believing all these people like or are living off the teat because they are scammers, lazy, druggies, bottom-feeders, or whatever appears to have been implanted by President Reagan and thus sacred. It is hard to find another reason for obdurate cold-heartedness of Trump's Budget or the eagerness by the GOP to embrace it.

This person has to be a troll. Same stupid talking points on every thread. Trumps budget is 4 trillion dollars. I believe the largest ever proposed, but according to the lying liberals he's cutting everything. Makes me sick. No wonder we can't get a handle on the deficit. What morons like Emily don't understand, that a country wallowing in debt will sooner or later eat up its' prosperity in interest payments alone. We are not that far from saddling future generations with no economic future at all. Emily should save herself some time and move to Venezuela. They might make her Minister of Finance.

America is we the people: do you agree? The government is not the three branches but us citizens. Paying those three branches is welfare from the government of we the people. It is an entitlement of the purest sort in this Republic. All branches never consider a cut to their pay, privileges, or perks. Financial trouble arises, they look to take from we the people. Ask the right question: how much does Congress get out of the budget? We are supposed to have the purse strings as we the people.

As to lying liberals saying Trump is cutting everything, he is, is had the eyes to see. There is also hidden in this budget a massive tax increase for middle-class families that you can't or refuse to see. That is just fact, not partisan politics. If I were watching a game of chess off to the side between you and Soros, you on my Right and him on my left, and he made a brilliantly strategic move against your defense, it would be just objective fact and not favoritism. Get off your childish defense of everything being about parties. There is reality lurking out there. Objecting to a horrible and ill-prepared budget by Trump, with bi-partisan support, is not being a Lefty.

I'm as conservative as they come and a fan of the President.
That said, here's my take:
1. If that budget is passed there'll be chaos in most of our major cities.
2. Instigators and anarchists will have a field day.
3. There is an implied threat that most in our Government clearly understand....cut benefits equal bankrupt insurance companies and economic ruin.

There have been reports that the Government created "detainment centers" across the nation. If true, I wonder if it was in preparation for
such a day as described above. When the anarchists tell millions of young able bodied unemployed people that the Government wants to turn
them public works slaves or starve, what does common sense tell YOU how they'll react?
We had all better pray that the purposed budget is voted down.

Russia faced the same thing a long time ago. Shockingly, when the citizens were starved and ignored by their government, they objected and protested. Why do so many see the right to peaceful assembly in protest, guaranteed in the Constitution, what our forefathers did, as communism?

America is we the people. Not sure about that anymore. A great percentage are too sorry to get off their butt and vote. The government is the three branches per the Constitution. The citizen's have the ability to change the government (if only they cared enough) by voting. Paying the little princes and princesses in the government is not welfare. They are just being overpaid by us for a job not well done. I have never been a party man. I am a staunch conservative. I have always said I would like to see congress have to except the exact same healthcare as the rest of us. I would like to see them have a contributory retirement such as a 401K. Not a lifelong pension paid by us. You complain about the cost of paying the D.C. politicians and I assume their staffs. I agree., but that amount is not a percent of what universal healthcare would cost. You want to put the people you just said are welfare recipients in charge of your healthcare and you say you can't understand people like me. Once again, you are wrong or lying. Trump is not cutting everything. Hell I hate this budget because it doesn't cut enough. Did you complain about Obamas budgets? I doubt it . You might want to look up how many in congress voted for his budgets.

Just what in this budget will cause what you say but ever increasing debt? Looks like you got your moniker right.

The budget purposed by the President has already been blasted by the Democrats and the media as cruel and heartless. If passed as is
what do you think the backlash will be?? There is a long hot summer coming when ANY excuse is reason enough for massive unrest.
Do you think people living in 90% humidity without air conditioning that used to be paid for by taxpayers give a rat's ass about the national debt?

I get you now. I meant the confused one was me. Couldn't figure out what was in this budget that would cause these calamities'. You are saying that because the press and Democrats have demonized the budget so bad that anything negative that happens would be blamed on Trump's budget. I just don't see anything in this budget that would cause someone on the government dole not to still be on that dole. Unfortunately, hardly anyone cares about the national debt.

They say that unemployment is around 5%. They say too, that there are between 45 to 50 million on food stamps. Something doesn't add up.
Could it be that there never was a recovery and that the true unemployment is closer to 20%? All that QE failed to spur anything except the stock market.
All I was saying is that this isn't the right time to impose draconian measures in an attempt to get our fiscal house in order. As much as conservatives would like to see the President's budget passed I'm saying that the timing is not right. I think that doing so now would backfire and lead to much bigger problems.

If you read the Constitution, it says "a government of the people, by the people, and for the people" and not the three established branches there at the behest of the people. The government is you, me, and Americans who disagree with you or me.
