9/04/2015 “If I Were The Devil . . .” Completely Prophetic For This American Age . . .
http://www.wnd.com/2015/09/if-i-were-the-devil-2/

“If I were the Devil . . .”
By Paul Harvey

If I were the Devil . . . if I were the Prince of Darkness,
I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness.

And I would have a third of It’s real estate
and four-fifths of It’s population,

But I wouldn’t be happy until I had
seized the ripest apple on the tree,
“Thee.”

So I’d set about however necessary
to take over the United States,

I’d subvert the Churches first.

I’d begin with a campaign of whispers.

With the Wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper
To you as I whispered to Eve:
“Do as you Please.”

To the young, I would whisper
that the Bible is a myth.

I would convince them that man created
God instead of the other way around.

I would confide that is bad is good,
and what is good is “square.”

And to the old, I would teach to pray after me:
“Our Father, which art in Washington”

And then, I’d get organized.
I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature
exciting so that anything else
would appear dull and uninteresting.

I’d threaten television with dirtier movies and vice versa.
I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could.

I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction.

I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the Devil,
I’d soon have families at war with themselves,
churches at war with themselves,
and nations at war with themselves,
until each in It’s turn was consumed.

And with promises of higher ratings,
I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames.

If I were the Devil,
I would encourage schools to refine young intellects
but neglect to discipline emotions -
just let those run wild

Until before you knew it,
you’d have to have drug-sniffing dogs
and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

Within a decade, I’d have prisons overflowing.
I’d have judges promoting pornography.

Soon I could evict God from the courthouse,
and then from the courthouse,
and then from the house of Congress.

And in His own Churches
I would substitute psychology for religion
and deify science.

I would lure priests and pastors
into misusing boys and girls
and church money.

If I were the Devil,
I’d make the symbol of Easter an egg
and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the devil,
I would take from those who have
and I would give to those who wanted,
until I had killed the incentive
of the ambitious.

And what will you bet
I could’t get the whole states to promote gambling
as the way to get rich.

I would caution against extremes
in hard work,
in patriotism,
in moral conduct.

I would convince the young
that marriage is old-fashioned,
that swinging is more fun,
that what you see on television
Is the way to be.

And thus I could undress you in public,
and I could lure you into bed
with diseases for which there is no cure.

In other words, if I were the devil,

I’d just keep right on doing what he’s doing.

Paul Harvey “Good Day”
1918 - 2009

Paul Harvey was a genius. What he brought to America in terms of daily wit and wisdom will be missed by the entire country – whether they know it or not.

Paul Harvey was an original – an icon, a unique personality and talent. He was bigger than life. No one who knew him had a bad word to say about him.

Paul Harvey passed away in 2009. Most Americans wondered who might take his place. Nobody did. I don't think anyone can.

But it was in 1965, with the Vietnam War raging, riots in America’s cities and upheaval on college campuses, that Americans first remember hearing what became one of his signature broadcasts’.

Yes, he could tell a great story, as in "The Rest Of The Story." But what American loved most about him was his ability to find those great little gems of news – stories that escaped the attention of so many of his colleagues.

Paul Harvey made his living sorting out the news for America – giving us Americans a glimpse of what was really important and entertaining. Long before the Internet came along, Paul Harvey was giving us headlines we might not see in our local newspapers or hear on the network TV news.

This was Paul Harvey-style “News Judgment.”

Reflecting back, what made Paul Harvey so special, what gave him the universal appeal. It was clear to me it wasn't just the voice, the cadence of his speech and the repetition of keywords. It was much more than the style – which was artistic, original, creative and captivating.

It was mostly the content – “ His News Judgment.

Broadcast like these in 1965 were what was special about Paul Harvey, besides his cadence, his story-telling ability, his voice and his likability, was his “news judgment.” Which stuck with Americans, and made an impression; it is still indelibly etched in the synapses of American minds.

Americans were becoming aware of what was going on in the world.

It smacked completely of truth. In Paul Harvey’s epic broadcast he speculates about what he would do if he were evil, Satan.

It was called “If I were the devil.”
http://www.wnd.com/1999/08/2815/

Paul Harvey is the prophetic dean of U.S. radio commentators.

Here is another version of the same original broadcast in 1965.

I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world;

I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from
man’s effort, instead of God’s blessings;

I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people,
instead of the other way around;
I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state
revenue;

I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes
to leadership;

I would make it legal to take the life of unborn babies;

I would make it socially acceptable to take one’s own life, and
invent machines to make it convenient;

I would cheapen human life as much as possible so that the life of
animals are valued more than human beings;

I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His
name was grounds for a lawsuit;

I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young,
and I would get sports heroes to advertise them;

I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute
the mind of every family member for my agenda;

I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation.

I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable. If the
family crumbles, so does the nation;

I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on
canvas and movie screens, and I would call it art;

I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that
their lifestyles should be accepted and marveled;

I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a
few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as
politically correct;

I would persuade people that the church is irrelevant and out of
date, and the Bible is for the naive;

I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that
prayer is not important, and that faithfulness and obedience are
optional;

I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are.

I believe that there is but a single reason that people reject God. Pride. They refuse to humble themselves before God and repent. That's what it all boils down to. The sin of pride.

I never denied the existence of God. My question was a reflection of the assertion that it is impossible to prove the non-existence of God. By the same logic, it is also impossible to positively prove the existence of God. Just two sides of the same coin. As for doing as I want, that is a given. We are all born with free will to act or not as we please. Just one of our many gifts from God as his creations. Denying God is not a prerequisite to freedom in any respect. If God did not want us to exercise our free will, He would not have endowed it.

You keep talking about "free will". Could anyone here explain what that means, please?

As I see it, you don't have any more free will than any other robot or Pavlov's dogs.

From the moment you are born you must follow a distinct path set for you by others.

Your parents start teaching you what they want you to know and do.

They were taught by their parents, who were taught by theirs, etc. who ultimately were taught by those who controlled your tribe in the distant past.

You speak in a code (language of your tribe).

You eat the foods that are common to your tribe.

You wear the clothing of your tribe. And change it's style when salesmen/con men in your tribe dictate a change.

With your mothers urging you are brainwashed to adhere to some tribal mysticism (religion), (whatever of the thousands of religions she has been brainwashed in) and taught that religion by the con men running that sect. As the Pope is quoted, "Give me a child for it's first 6 years and I will give you a Catholic for life".) You must know that the higher ups in that religion don't really believe it, don't you.

Ever watch a Catholic self hypnotize herself using her Rosary Beads and repeating the same litany over and over?

No most of you do not have free will by any means, as long as someone else controls what you think and do.

BTW, only a really stupid being would not realize that there is a Universal Intelligence that created and maintains the universe and everything that is in it. Give it whatever name you wish. But I doubt that you or me personally is of any real interest to it. And I doubt that it has such low self esteem that it would want us to worship it.

You are brainwashed with your country's political religion, (yes politics is another Pavlovian brianwashing).

You are lied to, hypnotized and victimized by similar procedures regardless of where you live.

Most of you have very little if any free will. Sorry about that.

What about adult atheists who convert to Christianity? Are they brainwashed too? You're an Idiot. You think everyone is brainwashed. I used to be an atheist. Then I started reading the Bible when I was in jail. I was a Christian when I was released. I was not brainwashed. I looked at the evidence and made a decision based on logic. Your opinion means nothing to me since you have also been brainwashed, according to your own arguments. There is nothing more annoying than someone who thinks they are smarter than everyone else. Thank you for your kind words.

I’ve noticed that most people have a horror of looking at their own situation, or else can not, due to inability to think an original thought. These people must have someone tell them what they should be thinking. And that lets the thinker control the poor non-thinking soul..

Didn’t mean to offend you, but it is a fact that 92.2% of “people” do not have the ability to think. That means more than 9 out of ten of you will be offended if I put up something that asks you to think.

When someone starts insulting the writer rather than debating the issues they disagree with, you know that they belong in that 92.2% that must be controlled.

Thank you again for clarifying your position. No insult meant.
