I wonder that as well...I wonder if they even know it??? I guess everyone loves at his or hers own definition of love but to have that as described in the one I shared, I just don't know that they do....I sure hope they do, it is a magnificent love, dang near undescribed...Undoubtedly, many of us are more comfortable with the notion that love can mean anything to anybody precisely because when we define it with precision and clarity it brings us face to face with our lacks — with terrible alienation... The truth is, far too many people in our culture do not know what love is...Not really, or at least not as I have seen between couples that are say out to dinner, not talking to each other, just eating and looking around..It makes me wonder if they are in love let alone know love and its truths..Or to see my firends that are married just exisiting together rather than the excitement love brings... Years of marriage take it away?? Why??? It shouldn't be but for many I suspect it does...

I think love is an intention and an action. When we are loving, we are openly and honestly expressing care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, respect and trust...We have the emotion of attraction at first and then it grows in feelings to what we think is love and it is but it is that 69 year commitment like you made and have beause of that great undenying love of "ntention and action"..I intend to love you in a way through my actions that you will never have doubt of it..My action is to show you that love every day, not just sometimes...Im going to greet you at the door everyday if home before you..I'm going to make all your favorite foods any chance I get but keeping it a little surprsie for you, etc..In those little surprises you will always know without doubt you are first in my life..I want you to know it..I'm only have as good as I can be and with you I am made whole... Intention and Action defines those feelings of loving you so much it hurts...And I wouldn't have it any other way...

Love and marriage go hand in hand..Its what comes in that commitment to love, respect, honor and take care of you that ultimatley defines "Our Love"..
Defines love as it is if we just allow it...If we just leap forward to the one that is your "one' and only..

No need to apologize for not knowing that we have no biological children. I don't think anyone starts out their posts on OPP by explaining their life story, it just slowly emerges as it fits into conversations on line.

When NPP had double by-pass surgery in October, I stayed with a young couple near the hospital. The young man is the son of the surgeon and the surgeon is one of our boys from 35 years ago. We had stayed in touch, been at his wedding and even visited a couple of times after that so when NPP needed a heart surgeon we knew where to go, and we were blessed by his caring and skilled hands. NPP is well on the mend, back to working too hard, and his warped and wonderful sense of humor is back in full force. The boys and young men we have worked with, through a great Christian organization, have given us much more than we could ever give them. We even went to a wedding of a great guy who is one of "our boys" of another counselor, and a long story from one of our earliest postings. I don't know if there is any way to search "the wedding" as posted by AuntiE and see the paintings of the dogs being flower children and ushers at the wedding. It was a great celebration!! a memory that will remain with me always.

by the way She Who Must Be Obeyed came from a book title SHE by H Ryder Haggard, and was my nickname because in the dog obedience classes I have run for years I always emphasize that the trainer must be obeyed, but willingly and happily, by the dog.
