How does trump do it? Even if he were trying, it seems he could not do anything this dumb...

Trump Just Lied About Sending Carrier Group To Korea. South Korea’s Response Is Great

President Trump brought our nation to the brink of thermonuclear war with the rogue regime of North Korea by sending the USS Carl Vinson carrier group to the Korean peninsula and threatening a pre-emptive strike.

Except the carrier group was in fact off the coast of Australia at the time preparing to take part in joint exercises. Somehow, the Trump administration and James Mattis’ Department of Defense thought they could get away with pretending to send an aircraft carrier battle group to the Sea of Japan and that nobody would notice.

Our South Korean allies were not pleased by this development, rightfully criticizing Trump for not taking their national security seriously. The leading candidate for the Saenuri political party, Hong Joon-pyo, blasted Trump in a recent interview, saying that:

“What Mr. Trump said was very important for the national security of South Korea. If that was a lie, then during Trump’s term, South Korea will not trust whatever Trump says.”
Hong Joon-pyo could very well be the next leader of South Korea as the country prepares to hold elections on May 9th and determine the successor to the recently impeached Park Guen-hye.

Chinese and North Korean media had a field day over the incident, mocking Trump’s “major screw-up.” Chinese news portal Guancha.cn laughed that the “media around the entire world have been duped by Trump again!” as North Korean state-run media incredulously called out Trump’s “warning act” as nothing but a hollow bluff.

What kind of message does Trump’s appalling gaffe send to our allies around the world? We have stood by the Republic of South Korea for over half a century, but now our relationship is being called into question because Trump is refusing to take the matter of thermonuclear war seriously enough.

Trump’s rudeness towards the leaders of Australia, the United Kingdom, and Germany have already put major strains on our national relationships with our closest international allies. Trump seems to be going out of his way to offend everyone close to the United States – but has nothing but praise for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

It seems that rust-belt voters aren’t the only ones learning the hard way that Trump never keeps his promises.

PeterS says, "Unlike Obama who never did anything this stupid." Are you really that clueless. How about the red line in Syria? Or constantly telling the enemy what he was going to do. I could go on, but from what I've seen of you, in my short time on here, is that you just don't get it. Like a paid troll. Nothing from your own mind of more substance then a line or two. Typical of Liberal protesters. Throw out the cheap slurs and liberal one line talking points. For today, this is all the reply your comment is worth.

Truly, it was Obama's dickless inactivity in this arena that has given this fat little idiot the gall to think he can provoke us or anyone else, for that matter.

And for the ignorant, we don't need a carrier group in close proximity to start a nuclear war. Duh. There are other plans in the works, both defensive and offensive.

Kim is a big fish in a little pond. His people are suffering and will tell you so, gladly; most, anyway. We will eventually pull his plug. He's too great a threat to S Korea not to.

What about Bush, Bill, Bush Sr., Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy and Ike: what was their approach to the problem?

Shall we review the entire history of our relationship with Korea, long before Obama came along....to fail??...at doing something, really?

Wanna explain to me why we still spend money on a failed approach to:

Drugs
Proxy Wars
Poverty
Taxes
Politics
Elections

Come on now! Trump probably believed that he had sent the Carrier Group to the Sea of Japan. We know his grasp of reality is tenuous at best, so it isn't a stretch to believe he mixed up his Strike Groups, At one point, he said he sent it to Iraq, but was reminded it was N. Korea - so who ever speaks to him last is the only information that sticks - until the next person speaks to him, then it's all gone.

What is truly alarming, is that the two people we rely on to keep Trumps hands off the trigger - didn't bother to look into what he said, as they repeated the lie.

Trump "we are sending"

CNN hears "we have sent"

The two are not equal. There was no lie. However, if he wanted to lie about where a carrier group is then he can. It's info for N Korea. In fact, there might already be a carrier group there already and he's trying to tempt Kim to do something stupid, thinking he has time before the carrier group gets there.

What little you know.

It was Obama? So what did Obama do that was any different then his predecessors? And do you really think Trump can huff and puff his way into scaring Kim? Kim is a sociopath who, if you push, will be more then happy to wipe out as many people as he can. And don't look to China because, if you noticed, all the technology North Korea is so proud to show off was of Chinese design. And we will pull Kims plug? So we are going to assassinate him? Other than that how do you propose we will pull his plug--remember, Trump gave the Russians a warning before he launched an attack that did little to diminish the Syrian air force. Acting like a tough guy and being a tough guy are two different things and when you say you are sending an ARMADA and nothing shows up it's pretty hard for the other side to take you seriously.

Yes, he's too big a threat--so why don't we provoke him a little more and see what he does--that should work out for the south don't you think...

It's not what CNN heard but what Kim heard and if nothing shows up on his doorstep he's going to believe as everyone else, and think Trump a fool...

Oh, for a conservative it's always a liberals fault--though if Kim does launch his nukes make no mistake about it--it will be Trumps fault!!!
