No American should take delight in the demise of any elected President. The political, social, and diplomatic upheaval that would occur from such an event would add yet another hazardous layer to an increasingly destabilizing world. Those that remember the Nixon shaming will recall the sense of loss of the value of the American character felt by all and yet what are we to think of this person who seems to have such low impulse control when it comes to something as simple as his cell phone? In his favor are some very serious and competent cabinet members who seem to be able to get on with the business of state in spite of the erratic nonsense being trafficked out of the Oval Office. Will they be enough to offset the Presidential recklessness and bring some common sense and gravitas to the stage? One can only hope so for all our sakes...

From the Wall Street Journal:

President Trump is clinging to his wiretapping claim “like a drunk to an empty gin bottle,” the Wall Street Journal said in a scathing editorial published Tuesday night. And that claim, floating in the president’s “seemingly endless stream of exaggerations, evidence-free accusations, implausible denials and other falsehoods,” is severely damaging his credibility, both at home and abroad.
“If President Trump announces that North Korea launched a missile that landed within 100 miles of Hawaii, would most Americans believe him? Would the rest of the world? We’re not sure,” the paper said.
The Journal slammed Trump’s evidence-free assertion that former President Barack Obama ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower before the 2016 presidential election. Trump leveled his explosive charge on Twitter on March 4, and the White House has refused to back down, even after FBI Director James Comey dismissed the allegation as unfounded.
“He has offered no evidence for his claim, and a parade of intelligence officials, senior Republicans and Democrats have since said they have seen no such evidence,” the paper’s editorial board wrote.
The president has plenty of media critics, and the Journal’s editorial board was not particularly supportive of his candidacy. But the editorial is striking, given the paper’s traditionally conservative tone. Its owner, Rupert Murdoch, also owns Fox News, Trump’s favorite cable news network.
“Two months into his presidency, Gallup has Mr. Trump’s approval rating at 39 percent,” the editorial continued. “No doubt Mr. Trump considers that fake news, but if he doesn’t show more respect for the truth, most Americans may conclude he’s a fake President.”
The paper also pointed out how Trump’s refusal to back off his evidence-free claim has co-opted what could have been a positive news cycle.
“This week should be dominated by the smooth political sailing for Mr. Trump’s Supreme Court nominee and the progress of health-care reform on Capitol Hill,” the editorial said. “These are historic events, and success will show he can deliver on his promises. But instead, the week has been dominated by the news that he was repudiated by his own FBI director.”

If you are telling me that your loyalty to the chief of your political tribe is unmoved I understand but the WSJ is a notable bastion of the political Right. Will you continue to defend him when even Breitbart jumps the ship?

You need to pay better attention. The evidence is only now appearing and it appears that while the Trump transition team may not have been the target, they were being subjected to illegal surveillance by the Obama administration.

By the Obama administration? So you're telling me that Obama had his own surveillance operation too!!! Come on JW, this is getting hysterical. Had Trump NOT been talking to the Russians then no one would have been listening to him. And for the last time presidents can't put people under surveillance. Justice can only do that and only if there is reasonable suspicions that someone is breaking our laws or, perhaps, in the process of committing treason. This is all Trumps own doing. Had he not climbed into bed with Putin then no one would have had any reason to be listening to his conversations...

Is this the same Wall Street Journal and Gallup Poll that showed Hillary Clinton as the next president? The same people who said Hillary was unbeatable? They had Trump at 12% a couple of days before the election. How can you doubt organizations that display such accuracy? The fact is that most polling organizations share the same data and in some cases, employees. They just tweak their publications a little so they don't look like carbon copies. Most of the major news outlets, including Fox, are owned by a handful of people.
I am so terribly sorry that you Hillary worshippers and Trump haters are having so much trouble adjusting.
The wall will be built.
Wetback criminals will be deported.
Bloated bureaucracies will be cut down to size
Incompetent apparatchiks will be looking for work.
The deficit and debt will be reduced. (NO ONE can fix this one in four years)
The military will be rebuilt.
Corporations will return to the US and hire US citizens.
Trump is undertaking the politically unpopular jobs that the previous six administrations, both Democrat and Republican, have shirked. Hear that silence? That is the sound of the can no longer being kicked down the road.

Get used to it, precious snowflakes. If you want to live in a progressive, socialist country, you will just have to move to Cuba or Venezuela.

How droll that you should now discredit one of your right wing rags when they have the temerity to point out that the Orange Emperor is unclothed. I have little use for either Hillary or Trump but it is disappointing to see the Donald blow a great opportunity to kick over the political table by miring himself in obsessions about Obama who should be a receding figure in his rear view mirror by now. Hear that silence? That is the sound of the people waiting expectantly for him to stop sucking his thumb and start acting like a grownup and start fulfilling the great insurgent promise he made.

As a clueless Liberal Hobbit Dancer, you are probably unaware that Trump is constrained by Obama's budget until October the first. Most changes cost money. The government operates on last year's budget until September 30th. Trump has been in office two months. It takes a while to undo 8 years of screwups.
That's just Obama. Trump is tackling the jobs that the past six administrations have shirked.
The [i]Wall Street Journal[/] is a right wing rag? Unlike left wing rags, it usually prints opposing viewpoints; something left wingers are loathe to do.

I guess that happens when all the "liberals," pecker, have already been eaten. Pelosi was asked by Stephanopoulos who the leader of the (D)emonrat Party was, and Pelosi stumbled for a second, but came up with two names; BHO and Hillary. Hummmmmmmmmmm. What IS that "crushing" noise??? GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRESIDENT "45" DONALD J. {BORN AGAIN} TRUMP (R); JUST LIKE THE WEATHER. To think that President Trump (R), is going anywhere but to supervise the unclogging of the (D)rain to the swamp on occasion, earned "lefty," the handle - "LOONY/JACKASS." I no longer wonder why!!!
