Who's freedom are you talking about. Is it my freedom not to be bothered by prothlizers in my own home? I have never bothered a Christian who has not bothered me first. I do not see people being prevented from entering Churches but Christians are only happy when they have EVERYTHING THEIR OWN WAY. They do not demonstrate that they accept the rights and sensibilities of others. They see no other reality than there own and feign shock when others do not embrace it.
No one has ignored the constitution, however conservatives who have no stomach for change forget that the constitution is a flexible document that needs to be updated from time to time but they clutch the status quo like a drowning man to a raft. I would bet that you haven't read it recently. I had to know it chapter and verse for my citizenship interview so I do know it. The constitution does not say only the Christian religion can reign. Only that you have the right to your religion no matter what it is. I have no objection to, in fact I would fight for, your being able to follow the religion of choice as long as you remember that not everyone has to believe as you do. That I am an atheist does not make me faithless, or bad, or without principals or morals - all of which I have been accused of. I probably live more by the standard principles of the bible than most Christians, I used to know the bible backwards as I went to a Church of England convent school. It held no attraction for me then or now, other than the partly factual historical value of it. I find the early books that the Catholic Church didn't include in their version of the Bible to be much more interesting.
And yes, we do have a country but obviously not the country that suits you, maybe you should research your family history and go back to your families country of origin. However, as there was probably a very good reason why they left, you probably wouldn't like it there as America IS A PRETTY DARN GREAT COUNTRY. Well welcome to the world of the liberal. The conservatives have inflicted their brand of Americanism on us for 8 years, holding up any kind of improvement in their fear of the future. Now you have what you wanted you still gripe.
