Long term deal now encourages large companies to begin to shake down state, local and Federal government when ever they want money. Republicans calling this a great deal and Trump has been elevated to move over Ronald Reagan Trump is headed for Rushmore.

Every Savvy CEO will now threaten to ship jobs to Mexico and demand a payment to stay. But Republicans love this agenda. Another hidden subsidy for the corporate elite.

Obama successful auto rescue that republican wanted to let the Auto industry go bankrupt due to the Bush recession saved well over a million Jobs by giving them a low interest loan with stock options that got paid back with interest ended up making money for the federal government. But the same people applauding the orange haired freak attacked Obama.
But the right wing freaks on OPP would never give Obama credit.

So I guess we are entering into the Trump presidency of PR stunts to pacify the right wing freaks on OPP. Nobody can see this guy scammed the American tax payers by spending $7 million and saved 800 jobs that were not going anywhere.

Arch it doesn't. These subsidies (breaks) are over ten years subject to Carrier meeting certain goals. Usually I am not for government interference in private business but the negative interference from government, via regulations and taxes has gone on for so long I believe Trumps idea might be the only chance for some companies. I see New York commercials all the time advertising lower taxes and breaks if your company will just come to New York. Wonder why the libs are O.K. with that? Probably because it's run by Democrats. The $7 million has a five-year payback from not losing $1.4 million per year in income tax revenue.

Carrier Corp. said it would shutter its Indianapolis plant employing 1,400 workers and move its manufacturing to Mexico. The plant's workers would be laid off over three years starting in 2017 (Various).

Chris Jones, president of United Steelworkers Local 1999, represents 1,300 union workers at the Indianapolis plant whose wages average about $23 an hour (Indianapolis Business Journal.com). This means that the average salary for an hourly factory worker is approximately $47,800 and that the loss of Carrier’s hourly factory jobs alone would cost the state's economy about $62 million annually.

Carrier said in a statement that more than 1,000 jobs were saved, though that figure includes headquarters and engineering staff that were likely to stay in Indiana. Doing some quick math ( 1400 employees – 1300 hourly workers = 100 headquarters and engineering staff ) means more than 900 hourly jobs were saved out of 1300 factory jobs.

While it may yet be unclear what has happened to those 400 factory jobs, it remains to be seen that at least 900 jobs and $43 million HAVE NOT been lost. Adding the multiplier effect means that another almost $57 million output from other sectors WILL NOT be lost.

Time will tell what the impact of this deal will be and what will happen to the other less than 400 jobs but it’s unfair to speculate that those jobs will move to Mexico. But it’s safe to say that a MAJOR negative impact has been avoided through this deal.

As a final observation, I seem to remember in my research something about capital investment which could mean automation that could affect employment.

Okay, you say $7M, I heard $700k, but then you like to exaggerate a lot in your posts, and provide no back up links/sources. Let's just say for arguement sakes it is the exaggerated $7M it is costing the government, and Indiana (they share). If you take the 1100 jobs he saved, that have an average salary of around $70k per year, and determine the taxes they will pay into the government coffers (around $19M) and state coffers (around $2.5M) more than covers that $7M investment. It's a win, win.

Too bad your failed leader cost this country far more lost jobs than he ever created.

A President does not have the authority to offer State tax advantages, nor does he have the authority to offer any other tax advantages, which is something everyone SHOULD have known - making the "carrier deal" nothing more than a scripted reality show episode. This "deal" was drawn months before the elections, and had to be approved by the Gov. of Indiana and it's legislature. In other words, had Hillary won, the Gov. of Indiana would have taken credit for the deal, but since Pence is from Indiana, he talked them into allowing Trump to take the credit. Just another show.

BTW, I have no doubt that Indiana offered to let Pence take the credit for the deal, but Mr. Trump would not allow it - if it don't have his name on it, it ain't happenin.
