Matthew 13th chapter

Verse 1 & 2

With Jesus in a boat, and the multitude on the shore, this would form a natural amphitheatre. His voice would carry.

Verse 3 - 9

This must be the most important because it is the only one explained in three gospels. Because Jesus explains this one I won’t try.

Verse 10 - 17

Jesus taught the multitude in parables, but He explained everything to His disciples. It is biblical that those have shall get more, but those who have not shall lose what they have.
In this world there is nothing surer than the rich get richer but the poor get poorer
Verses 14 and 15 are found in Isaiah 6:9 and 10. Scripture is coming alive but the people didn’t recognize.

Verse 18 & 19

This will shock you the first time you see it. You will be discussing the bible and the person you are talking to will be distracted. It may be a phone call or a pretty girl.

Verse 20 & 21

If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. You can’t straddle the fence. You will either be part of the solution or part of the problem. Satan has deceived the whole world. It doesn’t make sense to expect agreement from a deceived mind. A lot of your Christian walk will be alone.

Verse 22

Anything in this world is a care of this world, from starving children to sexual preference, to traditions of men. The traditions of men make the word of God have no effect.

Verse 23

To be good ground, you must be broken, had the stones removed, the weeds must be continually removed. If you plant a garden, you will go through these steps.

Verse 24 - 30

Tares and wheat are similar when they are sprouts. But wheat feeds man and beast, while tares are bitter and poisonous and black in appearance. The roots also intertwine. You cannot limit the Holy Spirit. The promises of God are yes and amen. Some say the tares are a race called Kenites. I think the tares are bad ideas. Let’s see what happens.

Verse 31 & 32

It will start out small, but it will spread throughout the planet. It started with baby Jesus. Satan thinks he has a chance by deceiving minds. When God comes everyone will not celebrate. Some will be disappointed. Matthew 24:30 There is a unique phenomenon about bird that fly. They look pretty and sound lovely, but there is not much meat on them. These preachers are useless. We think salvation is possible while we murder children and legalize same sex marriage.

Verse 33

Often when the bible speaks of the female gender, it really means religion. When the bible is taught in church, things start to change. The ideas contained in the bible will one day be understood.

Verse 34 & 35

This is written by Asaph in Psalm 78:2.

Verse 36 - 43

Jesus taught the multitude in parables, but He explained everything to His disciples. The righteous don’t shine until evil has been destroyed. The battle is not ours; the battle is the Lord’s.

Verse 44 - 46

It will cost everything you got. Like David in 2 Samuel 24:24, we should not offer to God that which cost us nothing.

Verse 47 - 50

This may be after the thousand year millennium.

Verse 51

God appeals to intellect.

Verse 52

You should be able to teach from the old and new testament.

Verse 53 - 56

After Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph had a normal relationship. Jesus had four half brothers and at least two half sisters. Two of Jesus’ half brothers wrote books in the bible, James and Judas. Because of Judas Iscariot, Judas name was shortened to Jude.

Verse 57 & 58

It is hard for a bible teacher to be accepted by his family. They use the bathroom behind you. People that knew you as a child can’t see you as a man.
