Matthew chapter 10

Verse 1

Disciples sent by Christ make lives better for everyone else. False prophets only improve their own lives. With a true disciple wrongs are made right. When Martin led the civil rights movement, America was changed for the better. With a leader like Al Sharpton, he divides this nation while we make him rich.

Verse 2 - 4

There is a discrepancy in one of the twelve disciples. Matthew and Mark list Lebaeus, but Luke has another Judas, and calls him brother of James. John 14:22 has a question by Judas, but points out that he is not Iscariot. The names of the disciples are not important. We all should be disciples of Christ. Everyone who list the disciples points out that Judas betrayed Christ.

Verse 5 & 6

The northern 10 tribes were separated from their homeland around 700 years earlier. They eventually settled in western Europe and America. Eventually Paul would be sent to the gentiles.

Verse 7 - 9

There is a life after this one. A disciple sent by Christ improves the life of the listeners. I don’t know what part of freely we don’t understand?

Verse 10

A teacher of God’s word never has to worry or want for anything. God will make sure he is taken care of.

Verse 11 - 15

Everyone will not receive you or like you. Satan deceives the whole world. The hardest person to teach is one who thinks he knows already. Deceived minds will always disagree. If you know the truth and they don’t, do not argue. Just stop associating with them. If you teach God’s word, God is on your side.

Verse 16

Wolves eat sheep. Sheep have no fangs or claws. A lamb is as helpless as a human baby. We should be wise as serpents but harmless as doves. We should be aware of their schemes and plans. But we let God fight our battles

Verse 17 - 20

Some people will not like you because they just don’t like you. There is power in clean hands. Some people rejoice when they think they have found transgression. When things come to a head, don’t plan your words. The words will come when you need them.

Verse 21 - 23

You will be betrayed by those closest to you. It is best not to become too attached to anything. Anything you acquire, you can acquire again. Stuff is just stuff. Man makes money but money does not make man. If you have a hard time in one city, go live in another.

Verse 24 & 25

Jesus was killed. No one was healed by the scribes and Pharisees. In spite of this, the Pharisees said Jesus cast out devils because He was the prince of devils. When you are accused of being under satanic influences, know you are in good company.

Verse 26 - 31

Don’t panic. God will never leave or forsake you. There will be no secrets, but there is power in clean hands. Does anyone know how many hairs are on their head? God knows us better than we know ourselves.

Verse 32 & 33

We should never be ashamed to be Christian. However, some people confess that they know Christ but in their works deny Him. God is in control.

Verse 34 - 39

If you teach the bible, deceived minds will disagree. You have read where the bible says a man’s enemies shall be those of his own house. This is in Micah 7:6. But Jesus says to love your enemies. Tough love is still love. Proverbs 13:24 says if you love your children you will chastise them. Some police may arrest you for chastising your child, but they may arrest your child if you don’t.

Verse 40 - 42

Everyone will not accept you. It’s never personal. If you teach that God’s word should be obeyed, people will look for an act committed decades ago to justify them not listening to God now. Whatever reason a person has for not listening to God is between them and God. If you teach God’s word, God will see you are compensated.
